Both the glock 19.5 and 23.5 share the same recoil spring weight of 18lbs. Your perceived felt recoil reduction is because it's a new captured guide rod. Your gun is cycling slower with a new out of the box 18lb gen 5 guid rod, slightly less muzzle flip... Once you put 500-1000 rounds through it, recoil will feel the same. It’s not that your stock rod needs improvement, it’s the 70 grams of tungsten weight you are adding to the forward part of your pistol that helps tame muzzle flip. Clamping lead under the front will do the same thing. Yet we will buy cut out and machined slides to look cool, reducing weight and mass, thus adding to muzzle flip. Glock pimpin’ ain’t easy.
@713KaiWin11 ай бұрын
Actually you are right and wrong. The cut outs in slides actually reduce muzzle flip in that the reciprocating mass is reduced and doesnt slam into the shooters hand as forcefully. Furthermore, a reduced weight slide can also help reduce muzzle dip (given the same recoil spring weight as a heavier slide) as the lighter weight doesnt slam into battery as forcefully. The weight on the frame that isnt moving is good for recoil though.

Ok so a couple things about this. 1: Why are you trying to get "less recoil" from 9mm in a full size pistol? It doesn't have that much "recoil" as it is. 2: If you are trying to lessen recoil with guide rod "weight" you are going to fail. Muzzle rise is where you see a difference. 3: The heavier the gun is the less likely you will feel a difference in a "Tungsten" guide rod. So a G17/19 etc you will notice very little difference due simple to the mass of the whole package. 4: The exception to is when you get into the smaller guns such as the the 43x and 48. I can tell with 100% assurance THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. I swapped to a Glock Store "Pure Tungsten Guide Rod" and boy the difference was noticeable.($140 bucks so kinda one of those things). My goal was to build a flatter shooting 43x MOS with my Holosun 507k and TLR-7 sub(glock). By it self the rod was noticeable but with the light is where I really feel a difference. Side note the full package on my G43x MOS currently is G43x MOS w/ TLR-7 sub, pure tungsten guide rod, Ameriglo dot over dot sights to cowitness, Holosun 507k on CH precision plate, Pyramid Trigger by Glock Store, extended controls, TRUE Precision threaded barrel(along with the OEM barrel with no compensator if I need a shorter package) and a Harrington Arms compensator. Ohh and 15 round Shield mags obviously. All fitting nice right into my Werks holster even with the compensator. I am still in the "test" mode with the gun playing with different part configurations to see what I like best so stuff may change over time back to OEM.

@@_D3adSh0t_ it’s definitely still a Glock after you replace parts but unless you shoot a lot you will never understand why it’s worth it.
