Great ideas, thank you 👍 I’m just planning some hardwood end grain right now that is a bit stubborn, I’m going to try some alcohol on it. Another idea for an inexpensive, but superb, gift is a tape dispenser for blue tape. Only yesterday I caught my finger with a plane blade and I was able to dispense some blue tape right away with one hand to close up the wound instantly. Of course it comes in handy for other tasks too 😂

Thoughtful and useful list! I hadn’t heard of some of those. I like the Silky saw. My dear grandkids have donated my other saws to the forest floor and I need one!

Silky Bigboy is also fantastic. Haven't brought an axe with me for years.

Many of those are spot on in my shop, but I already have them :^) I can always use more leather scraps!

I go to a tarp making shop to buy my leather. They sell scraps for a fraction of what someone like Tandy would

I have a folding pruning saw for pruning or taking along in the truck as you mentioned, but unless things have changed, Silky is actually one of the expensive brands. I got a Corona to replace an old wooden Corona that I lost and am happy with it.,

Silky is premium because of the blade.

with the leather scraps give them a set a punches. then they can punch circles to use as pads for set screws since those always go missing.

I'm sorry I'm watching this so late, but would the handheld sharpening stone be useful for kitchen knives? Or if not, what's your solution for that?

@@wortheffort Ok - and I made the comment before I saw the other sharpener you mentioned that you use for your pocket knife, so I ordered one of those to give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestions!

Why grain alcohol rather than denatured?

No dryers (poison) about same price.

i think you can also use isopropyl 99% in some cases (eg shellac). Canadians have access to ethanol with a less toxic agent to prevent consumption (but nowhere near as bad as what's in denatured alcohol)
