BUDGET HI-8 SKATE CAMCORDER SETUP VX1000/VX2000 ALTERNATIVE

I recently came across a Hi-8 camera at a garage sale for $45, and while out shopping at the local camera shop I seen they had six Hi-8 tapes on clearance for $4 each, I already had an adapter for an old 37mm filter thread, and I have a few fisheye lenses from over the years. I found when I put the Opteka deathlens 0.3x it made the camera just like a wide angle, there was no fisheye affect, but when I used a cheap old 0.3x fisheye I probably paid $10 for, it was almost fully circular and idk what the difference is. I tried using a spacer on the Opteka but it didn't change anything. I do love the look of the old tape style footage though.

sadly most hi-8 cameras I've seen recently are around 300-600$ AUD, but just picked up a cheaper sony miniDV cam because of your other video on them! stoked to try it out

i need 3 things to complete the build, ive already got a sony hi8 on order but now ive gotta scramble together another 150 bucks to get the video card and the fisheye lens, so 230 bucks in total job starts in september, only income i got for now is helping out a local autoshop as mechanic so i should be able to get the money in the next 2-3 months once i get more money on the job ill probably get a flip out screen version (cuz the one i got is the ccd-tr820e, no flip out)

@@TheLittleBrick yoo!! in the meantime I was able to pay off the video card, but a couple weeks later I decided to also buy 90 minutes of 8mm tape and 120 minutes of Hi8 tape for 20 bucks total and I've been filming with the tape for a while now. I can now just use the video card to record what's on the tape. you can see videos of it on my channel. i also got my first paycheck last week so i was able to buy the lens which is arriving next week! thank you for asking 🙂

yeah, when "recording" the footage to you computer, you can pause, for a blurry/grainy stutter effect, or FF or RW for extra vibe

Do you have any suggestions for hi8 cameras that have a nightshot/nightvision mode on them that would still fit the fisheye lens that was linking in this video that would also be able to have footage transferred to a computer.

I just picked up a TRV-16 at an estate sale for $40. its really good. it has nightmode and all the good stuff youd want. just need the 37mm 0.3x baby death lens and its the perfect set up to make some cool edits with.

Maybe I'll be wrong but there's just something about the look that is super nostalgic. So I bought a few different ones but don't have a Hi8 XR yet, only regular Hi8 ones. Got video 8 XR and digital 8. That footage when you compared side by side on the right, is that the VX1000? Looks amazing... now I'm thinking maybe that's what I need to save up for lol but not sure if they really come up for sale now besides from Japan
