there really is a different playstyle for riposting when using counterattack vs shield mastery. one gives you movespeed after the riposte and the other gives you extra movespeed when guarding. The difference between the two is a defensive vs offensive playstyle and it’s tricky to master both playstyles. Ideally when you have the perfect build, you wouldn’t even need barricade or defense mastery, but not only do you have to have the utmost perfect build, you would need to master both styles or the hybrid style of playing with both counterattack and shield mastery.

@@richardpagel6959 usually you use one or the other to gain the most benefit from sword mastery and sprint and then barricade if you like extra AR and MR. To use both is pretty powerful, but it also makes you a bit vulnerable. If your opponent is spaced too far, like a barbarian with a bardiche, then there is a chance that you miss the first riposte since the action speed of that riposte will be extremely fast. It becomes harder to hold onto a riposte from there on. Honestly I find it hard to master when both perks are on, but you do you.

Apparently the Shield Mastery buff still applies while riposting, so you still get the Move Speed bonus

Word of advice: Use a lyre to open doors faster, higher the quality means more resourcefulness you have which makes it faster to open doors.

It feels so validating seeing you build largely the same kit I do when being cheap lol. It also makes me irrationally angry that people say they can’t get competitive sets without tons of farming. Go to the fuckin goblin mines and get 2 iron nodes, the other 3 nodes are just bonus gold

But shield mastery works DURING your counter as well so you get the same +10% ms the counterattack gives you. Correct me if I am wrong.
