Great information to assist folks on choices that won't break the bank . Back in 1986 I bought a Barreled action with a unfinished stock from Santa Barbara Mauser the cost was $186.00 . I chose the 270 Winchester. Now fast forward to 2024 . I picked a Sporterized Mauser in 3006 for under 350.00 when all was said and done. I couldn't be happier with these two rifles .

Nice video, curios if your ever on Mauser central? I think it’s worth mentioning a few things on these actions. They are a good buy no doubt. There is a bunch of speculation as to where these are actually made, yes I know they say Dumoulin but if you dig on these you will see what I mean. But in my opinion who cares they are A2 tool steel complete actions with straddle bottom metal and 3 position safetys. Other thing is some of these come to you tougher than others and need ALOT of work including feed ramp shaping, feed rail shaping and sometimes the safety is out of time and needs work. If you’re unfamiliar with this stuff be prepared to learn or have someone who knows how do these things. Sometimes lots of tool marks. Now to be fair the early batches and some of the recent ones are/were pretty clean needing little work. You just don’t know what you’ll get. Then the scope rings. Yes they have a dovetail but the rings are expensive and only a few manufacturers. Yes they are tapped on top for other mounts but it then makes your scope sit too high and looks and feels bad. But the dovetails work well just expensive. The triggers are ok and adjustable but usually need some clean up done to them. Lastly I don’t like detachable magazines on Mauser but to each his own. Good luck everyone just realize this isn’t likely a plug and play purchase but you’ll likely learn something great along the way.

Great review, I dont know of Mauser central. I was unaware of the hit or miss quality wise. The 3 I received seem to be good, and other than shelf wear, look very nice. Thanks for the info, its good to be aware of this before choosing this option.

Cool, nice-looking rifle! I've been thinking about ordering one of those actions from Sarco but I've also been wanting one to get one of those Swedish 96 Muasers in 9.3 x 57. Just to many projects and not enough money!!!

Thank you for the video! For these Dumoulin Mauser actions do you order the large ring Mauser #1 barrel Boyd's stock?
@AthensArmory303 Жыл бұрын
That is what I ordered, it did require a little inletting but not much

Nice review, which makes the Dumoulin an attractive option. When you ordered from Boyd’s, which action/barrel did you specify?
@AthensArmory30311 ай бұрын
I ordered the military barrel, it was way too small, and needed a good amount of sanding to get it right. But that is common for my builds. The action choice was mauser 98

Sadly Belgian gun makers are almost non existence at this time, Dumolin was one of the best makers of actions and rifles.

Very cool, what is the magazine capacity of the standard floor plate action?
@AthensArmory303 Жыл бұрын
They list them as 5 round internal magazine for the 30-06 cartridge on the website. Search sarco on google, search mauser action on their site for the Dumoulin Mauser. They have many specs and features listed

@@AthensArmory303 thanks, I picked up one of the barreled action in 30-06. I hope it’s a fun project

I think you will have a lot of fun with the project. Very good quality and the hardest part is done. Good luck, hope to hear how it comes out.

Can you put a link to the company you bought the action from?
@AthensArmory3037 ай бұрын
Rules will not allow me to do this, Google sarco, its the first listing that comes up. use the site search and type in mauser dumoulin. It will take you right to them. Good luck
@AthensArmory3037 ай бұрын
Sorry, just search dumoulin, they are not listed with the name mauser.

Do you know if they are making any other size actions i would love to have a mini mouser i had one in 223 and it had a heart stainless barrel with a 1 in 8 twist it was the most accurate rifle i have ever shot it was stolen
@js71273 ай бұрын
CZ is the only one I have found that made mini mausers recently but they stopped and the complete used rifles are super expensive. Howa does make a cute mini action and I believe you might be able to get them as barreled actions.

evey gun i got that had shit paint on it well it got the acetone treatment along with the scotch brite and then rust blued. paint in my opinion is just the ultimate sin and has no place on a gun and it also hones your skill at bluing your gun
