Don't miss out on the tax credit for adding a solar system to your RV: "In December 2020, Congress passed an extension of the ITC, which provides a 26% tax credit for systems installed in 2020-2022, and 22% for systems installed in 2023. (Systems installed before December 31, 2019 were eligible for a 30% tax credit.) The tax credit expires starting in 2024 unless Congress renews it" RV's are eligible also. Of course check with your tax person to see how this will benefit you

I just purchased the 3000W Sungold Inverter/charger. The reviews and company information look excellent and I can't wait to get it installed, and replace my OLD Magnum 1000w inverter! I also was lucky enough to get a 10 percent discount on the unit, with Free Shipping. That discount expires tomorrow, but still saved me $82. The SOK batteries with Bluetooth and heater are currently out of stock, so will wait for them. You would be wise to buy these batteries directly from their website, as it will take the 7 year warranty and extend it 3 more years. But, you have to buy directly from them. Thanks for the good information.

We lived in our 5th wheel while we built our new off grid home. I installed 2 SOK batteries in the 5th wheel along with 500 watts of solar and a inteli charger 14.6 volt constant current constant voltage charger. The batteries worked flawlessly. Now that we are in the house the SOK batteries will power our shop. The house runs on repurposed Tesla batteries. The number one reason I purchased the SOK was serviceability. All of the components are easy to replace. The Battle Born batteries are nor serviceable at all. I love your channel and I have learned alot from you. Thank you.

I'm not all that technical so I just got a Bluetti AC300 (with a B300 battery), and 950 watts of solar. It's a 3000 watt inverter with about 3000 watthour capacity. The AC runs at around 1500 watts on max settings, so it's got enough juice to keep it running for 2 hours straight at max. If I plug in the solar, it'll offset the draw (can get around 750 watts on a sunny day), so that will make it run for 4 hours as long as the solar panels are working properly. The system is pretty modular, so you can add more inverters and batteries and solar as necessary.

I did a cheaper ($/AH) setup using 3 - 200AH Ampere time batteries (placed in a heated area of the RV) and a 4000 watt Giandel pure sine inverter. Even added an automatic power transfer switch. Works well, and at roughly 1/3 of the price of those sponsored Battleborn / Victron everything setups you see so often--and yes it powers every outlet. I hit one remote button in my living area and it everything comes on. The one Victron thing I bought was the shunt, which I had to because of it's huge amp rating. That I also recommend because of the smart phone app feature.

You should of got the 300ah one even cheaper per wh and you'll be able to use most of that 4,000 watts. just 3,000 watts will draw 250 amps from a battery. You better get another one. Enjoybot makes Ampere Time, Chins, DJLBERMPW and a few others. My 300ah DJLBERMPW tested .36C 310ah

@@raylaux8295 I didn't get the 300AH ones for 2 reasons. One was the weight--too much for me to handle in such a tight space. But the bigger and lesser realized one was the maximum output. Jared, I have a 50A fifth wheel. The manual for the SunGoldPower says you don’t need to connect the input neutral wire on a 50 amp feed. I’m not comfortable with that. The Go Power IC units have connectors for all 4 wires but they have quite few problems reported with their units. So I’m looking at your latest Victron MultiPlus setup with the fancy manual switch. Is there any reason that setup wouldn’t work using a Victron MultiPlus 2000VA instead of the 3000? I only have two Trojan T-105 batteries to power the inverter and I think 2000 watts is plenty for what we’d be using.

@@EBKRV412 If the cables connected to the LiFePO4 batteries are the same cables that were used to connect to the lead acid batteries then the DC side would have power. You would most likely have to create new cables for between the LiFePO4 batteries and the inverter and then from the AC output of the inverter to the AC side of the main distribution panel. In addition, your shore power cable would get rerouted from the AC side of the main distribution panel to the AC input of the new inverter.

While you can flip the breaker on the breaker (the AC input to the converter), the converter is still "live". It has a connection to the DC side and it will continue to draw a small load. If you aren't going to use the converter, you might as well pull it out and save some weight.

Having messed with big RV battery sets, solar panels, and inverter gennys; these Lithium Power boxes seem to miss the mark in practical terms. Recharge options are just not there for travelers. A big Class A can run down its 220 ah golf cart batteries while dry camping, and the motor home alternator will recharge them on the road in 3 or 4 hours for the next stop over. Even the best 1500w Delta Box recharge rates are only usable with campsite hookups, unless you want to run your generator for the job. Ideally, your RV alternator could do the job, but that would require a hard-wired inverter putting out 1000 watts, and some way to cut out the charge below 2,000 rpm (around town) to avoid a dead engine battery. Given that, and you could arrange fast idle, a parked recharge would even be possible. It does not seem that anyone is on top of this other than Delta who at least offer high charge rates (which is only half of the problem. Mobile RV recharging is the other half (as mentioned. Another unmentionable is that lithiums do not like sub-freezing weather. They lose capacity at much below freezing, and seem to be permanently damaged by a low temp recharge.

In the meantime, I ordered and installed the PowerMax PM3 converter which once less expensive and tunable to match the voltage specs of the SOK battery. > Well, it melted down in 2-1/2 weeks ! It was a very basic skill level to change out the converters, but now I am clueless. Help !

You need heavier gauge wires.
@dustytravels9458 Жыл бұрын
@@willagoateatit3298 I appreciate the input Will, but about 3 months ago, after frying a second WFCO convertor, I installed a much cheaper PowerMax unit, and have not had any issues since.

Can your Victron Multiplex be mounted horizontally on the floor or does it have to be mounted vertically on the wall as shown in the video? My trailer only has about 19 inches of hight in the pass thru basement which is not enough to mount it vertically. Thanks.
@AllAboutRVs2 жыл бұрын
It can, it just cools a little better in the vertical position typically. I’ve seen some add a fan to help when it’s not vertical.

????? @ 8:50 I see you have the wire From the solar CC to the far (NEG) side of the Shunt >>WHY not to the (NEG) side of the (-) Battery?
@AllAboutRVs2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I go to the shunt because if I bypass it and go straight to the battery the battery monitor won’t be accurate because it wouldn’t meter the solar. By going to the shunt the monitor will include what solar is putting in.

I recently read a review that the AIMS' products (Which is the Sungold with a different Sticker) are absent native LiFePO4 charging capabilities. Instead, the manual instructs to charge the batteries like a Lead Acid battery potentially reducing the life span of Lithium batteries. Do you have any updates on the charging modes of the Sungold? Thanks

This is not a budget unit! At $700, it’s more expensive than the Renogy. Sungold has only a few reviews on Amazon. So the jury is still out on its longevity. I’m opting for separate charger and inverter units. These all-in-one boxes fail more often due to overheating!

Have you looked at the Xantrex Freedom XC 817-2080? Love mine and the service is amazing.
@AlamoCityCello2 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t make sense to combine a charger and inverter together in one box. When one of the components fail, you have to toss the whole unit! Overheating becomes a major issue.

Well, mine has now failed after 5 months of very light use in a trailer. 3 trips total, with less than 10 inverting hours on it. Sad commentary. Should have sprung for a Victron, given the investment at stake.
@smitty35092 жыл бұрын
So, would you run all 30 amps through this inverter and then to the RV 120v buss bar? With 3 100 Li batteries. That would limit you to 25 amps, with some spikes. That would be putting a lot of trust in the Sun Gold inverter.
@AllAboutRVs2 жыл бұрын
When it has power coming in it was passing through the full 30 amps. The internal switch changes from inverting to pass through.

I object to the term budget because "name brand" devices are CLEARLY overpriced.
