Eagle claw trailmaster spin and fly combo rod is my go-to. Just pack 2 reels 1 rod.

great video man, just ordered the rod, been using a 7' GX2 for the alpine trout. hasnt failed me yet, but a nice light 4 piece sounds great!

Thanks! This rod is great for $50. Being four pieces compared to two is super convenient. I can actually fit it inside a pocket on my pack. No more catching on brush! Good luck out there!

I’ve been using the Daiwa Spinmatic-SMD Rod for the last 3 years. Super compact and ultralight. A buddy of mine landed a smaller pink salmon on his rod last fall, it was fun to watch.

@ChrisBodven Nice! I was looking at that rod too. Looks great. Speaking of salmon season... right around the corner!

I like that rod. I picked up a Kast King 500 series reel recently that I'm pretty happy with, I might try one of their rods too, thanks for the review.

Santiam fishing rods has several pack rods. They are high quality at a fair price. Both 3 and 4 piece rods wrapped in Oregon, come with a soft cloth and tube. My 5-1/2 foot 3piece has a lure rating of 3/32 thru 1/2 oz. Cork handles and a hook keeper. Great rods

Yeah Santiam seems like a great company with a great product. I'd love to try one out some day

I agree, id pay a lil more for the rod and get a better one. Theres cheap and then theres break a rod cheap and a whole lotta cussin. The reel seems fine though for those lakes..

A better rod definitely has it's advantages! Also, if someone does a lot of fishing, they probably want better gear. I think this rod is good for $50 and great for someone just getting into fishing or who goes a couple times a year

Are you tying the braid straight to the lure or are you using leader? Mostly interested in your rigging with a bobber.
@CascadeBackcountry3 ай бұрын
When I'm in the backcountry I never use a leader and I rarely use a bobber. I tie my braided line to a snap swivel and use that to quickly change out spinners and spoons. If I use a bobber, I still just use the braided line. Here's a link to a video of my usual backcountry tackle setup: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYPWmpWvf7-ki8U

I’m looking for something exactly like this for backcountry trout lakes

This is a pretty great budget option! If you're willing to spend a little more money.... amzn.to/3AlpHWI ...check out the Daiwa Presso travel rod. It's better but it'll cost ya about $80. Lemme know what ya go with and how it works out for ya! (This is an affiliate link)
