It’s funny that this popped up this morning. As I make maps for an environmental planning company in GIS, I was thinking how grateful I’ve been over the last 3 years of using the ForclaZ MT100 you recommended to me 3 years ago. Although I ripped a small hole in the left sleeve years ago, some Leukotape has kept it going strong and it’s always the first jacket I reach for at this time of year when headed out on the trail in the early morning whether bikepacking, fastpacking, or a training trail run. I am so thankful for your wisdom and advice Justin. More so every time I reach for the Forclaz down jacket! -Nick, Prescott, AZ

Love my decathlon down jacket! I also love how’s its more accessible to people on a budget, and if you do rip a hole in it, you’re not going to cry as much over since it’s so much more affordable

I just went to Decathlon and bought the MT500 after watching your video. I was looking for a good cheap down jacket for weeks and watched every youtube video on down jackets and searched for hours. I even ordered a Columbia jacket but it was too big and way to thin and cold so i returned it. The MT500 is awesome with the soft fabric in the pockets and the hat i love it

I got the REI Magma 850 just because it was on clearance and I had a whole bunch of REI rewards. I'm honestly shocked by how good it is. I didn't have high hopes and figured it'd just be a day to day "fashion" jacket, but it ended up being surprisingly warm. Also, somehow surprisingly not too warm when it isn't that cold out.

If you are out of US or will ever be going out of the US I’d recommend checking there websites in that country, just went to Japan and the MT500 down jacket is only around $95 for an 800 fill down jacket that is a solid set up, similar to the one in the US decathlon website but with some fleece lined parts that I personally love, just wanted to give a tip if you are ever looking for more options or are going to Japan and want an amazing deal for a solid down jacket. Website wasn’t in English though so you may have to ask hotel staff or a person that knows the language to order the jacket and ship it to you

The bright orange colored jacket may provide better warmth in sunny/bright conditions due to better absorption of infrared or near infrared rays.

Recently bought MT500 from decathlon under brand name Forclaz. Costs me around 80USD during year end sale. The jacket is super warm and light. I feel with a good fleece below this jacket will work as good in -10 temp. I'll be spending a week in Spiti valley next month its a good place to test this jacket the temp would be as low as -20 in spiti valley. My brother bought MT900 110USD.. we'll test both jackets will share my review here.. thanks for the awesome video.

I own a Decathlon MT100 and love it , great value, my daily winter puffy. I also own some RAB gear which is fantastic as well but at a higher price. If you live in Canada and are a short drive from the US border I highly recommend Montbell Japan. Just get your sizing right and have it shipped to a US parcel service just over the border, drive over the border and pick it up. Much cheaper with the current value of the Yen compared to ordering from the North American Montbell site. I have never had to pay duty bringing it back to Canada as long as the total value isn't too high. I have their Alpine Down Parka ( insanely warm and not that heavy for a deep winter jacket, I get cold easily ) and a Storm Cruiser rain jacket and the quality is top notch ( don't recommend the Versalite for Canada as it's not actually waterproof, mine starting leaking after 20 minutes of Tofino rain, sold it. Get the Storm Cruiser instead, it's been bulletproof and still pretty light). Will probably order a Plasma 1000 next year.

You should choose Lighttour R7.5. That is 10cm. Lighttour is a OEM product for NH. NH R8.8 is 12cm. When you sleep on it, it shakes a lot, which is bad for your waist. Because I am the distributor of those products.

I noticed that decathlon states their jackets run small. I usually wear a size large. Do you think it would make sense to upsize to an XL?
@rvpcqpАй бұрын
Definitely. I usually wear a Large Tall size and the XL fits well over one layer but is a bit tight over extra layers like a hoodie. If you’re planning to wear in moderately cold temps over a T-shirt or something (kept me warm down to low 40’s) get 1 size up. If using over multiple layers adding 2 sizes might be better.

I want a quilt not full of down but synthetic fibers as I hate the thought of sleeping in dead animal products , I need it to go at least -5 celsius. I found out today some bags use what they call live bird feathers. This means the poor animal was plucked while it was alive then continued to live till it was fat enough to killed be eaten. I don’t want this on my conscious, and apparently many bags and quilts use these fathers. No cool no good. So man use your knowledge and support animal free products and recommend what I can buy. I am sure all reading this now will want an alternative regardless of price.
