I've had an under the seat sub for about a year now, and with some tuning and EQ modification it sounds so good. I can get a good rumble and bass feel when I need it. Makes long road trips so much more fun and have gotten nothing but compliments from my friends. Plus the space saving is no joke.

I recently put a Kicker Hideaway in the footwell of my S2000. With it being a 2dr convertible and only 2 x 6 1/2 speakers in the door, I needed something that didn’t take up space. Man, I was really impressed. No it’s not brain shaking performance, but it is so much better than what I had. Now I’m looking at putting one into my 2023 Integra. With that being a hatchback, I should have a bit of db gain out of it as well. These little units are impressive for what they are and their costs.

@@peanutheadrulesYes, just 1. Don’t have the space for 2 in my car. An issue with running 2 is that you’d have to match them (gain levels, crossover points, bass boost, bass knob). Would just be better to buy a pair of 10” subs a and a amp at that point.

@JasonWW2000
@JasonWW2000 7 ай бұрын
The big rear subwoofer in my Navigator rolls off above 45 hz due to the interior size and cancellation so I added a front sub. I tried a powered Rockville 8" underseat enclosure. I measured the response using an acoustical RTA with the enclosure under the passenger seat, under the 2nd row seat and in the passenger footwell. The footwell gave an extra 6dB across 50hz-80hz compared to under the seat. So the footwell is the best location, but can be in the way. Under the seat is more practical, but you need more cone area and/or power to get the same output levels. PS, that Rockville was rated at 100 watts (400 peak), but it only put out around 60w.

Pro tip: always test these type of systems with and without the phase button selected. Sometimes it makes a difference even if you've done your due diligence to maintain phase in your installation process. Sometimes this is due to OEM processing, sometimes it's due to poor product design.

Was literally about to say the same thing. I mix sound and deal with phase all the time. Not just flipping the switch but even flipping the sub upside down and elevating it to create an underseat cavity to direct the air. You obviously were doing it earlier in the trunk, that’s what I’d experiment with if I got my hands on one of these 👍 fire vid man love the channel 🔥🔥🔥

My thinking is for the everyday, casual listener that doesn't want to lose cargo space, a small enclosure of around .7 cubes, (2) 6.5" subs, powered off of 300-500 rms would satisfy most and only total maybe $300 and outperform an all-in-one joint like this.

Needless to say, he said the 6.5 had too much bass at 200Rms tuned to 40hz ??? Ended up putting some 6x9s in a box for him. He was happy….some people just ain’t built for the boom boom 😂

These pieces definitely have their place. I've sold them to customers who aren't willing to spend a lot of money, that like how their stock system sounds, but want to add just a little extra bass. They don't have to buy a separate enclosure, sub, amp, line level converter, and amp kit. One product and their vehicle remains relatively unmodified. You have to temper expectations and if you do so most people are ecstatic.

Would you recommend the Kicker 8” or 10” one(s) under the front seat of the Mazda CX-9? Our Bose system isn’t hitting those lows just right.. the clarity is spectacular on most but I’m missing that oomf in some songs that I’ve gotten used to listening to with subs. We have kids now though so we usually use the trunk frequently. Can’t really do a typical setup back there.. any suggestions? Appreciate it! 🤝

@@peanutheadrules Honestly if you have a bose system and it's not doing it for you, this type of product might not be for you. Bose systems generally have pretty good low end. If you're looking for something a little more, likely your Bose system is aging, or you're expecting something it can't deliver. A small 10" sub and 500 watt amp will probably give you what you're looking for and not consume your entire trunk or cargo area. This type of product is more meant for people with no sub at all.

I just installed something very close to this in a 2013 Hyundai Veloster that belongs to a friend of mine. It was the Tochinkar 10" 800W Slim Under Seat Powered Subwoofer. There are several different versions of it on Amazon with different name branding that I found. I had very little hope going into the install with the 800w rating and 15 amp fuse. However, this little thing surprised me. They definitely have their place in the market and they seem to be well built. Only downside I found was the power and ground wires. Very skimpy.

I've always been against all in one's myself. I myself have three different setups in my 3 rides. First my 06 Mazda rx8. It has an aftermarket alpine with the 6.5 inch screen. I had to spend almost 400 on the wiring harness and dash kit since the car had a bose stereo to begin with. I left the speakers and regular setup I just ran a Rockford fosgate 1000/1 that truly put out what it says. A little more actually. Eventually I upgraded to an insane planet audio pro 3000/1 monoblock wired down to one ohm. Powering two 12 fosgate subs in separate custom sealed boxes I made. And then a blitz 50 farad cap. The wiring was from fosgate ought gauge power and ground and honestly this setup is loud as can be and definitely can be the kind where you can hear it from a block away or tone it down to where it's just balanced out. My other setup is alpine Component 10 inch screen. All the speakers are Memphis as are the 12s and the mono and speakers Amp. It's in my cadi stsv and is what I use if I wanna show off since the Amp is mounted to a hydraulic moving system. Think trying to replicate 2fast 2 furious. The car has tons of led lighting inside and out and is my supercharged beast running solid at 63k even tho it's a 2006. Now usually I'm never a fan of stock stereos however my 2019 audi rs5 sport back has the original bang and olufsen 19 speaker setup and my wife's Benz cls63 2015 has the same make of stereo. Hands down nothing sounds as good and will hit every note without any distortion as well as a bang and O system. Plus the tweeters that pop up out of the dash is hot as can be. We sure have came a long way since I was 16 putting whatever I could get I think I had jbl to start with and a Sony deck in 2003 in the back of my bright red oldsmobile cutlass supreme convertible. Drop top with 20 inch spinners. I thought I was the coolest since everyone else around here drove ol rusty trucks. I was the outcast. Everyone called it a chick's ride.... guess they were right since I was always the one with a few girls wanting to ride with me and not some crappy redneck truck.

I've sold and installed a lot of Bazooka Tubes and Aura Bass Shakers over the 3+ decades in automotive customization. I agree with you on multi function components of any sort. Most of these units are low air volume ported/sealed/free air, and the power requirements/limits on the speakers are VERY specific. I can't tell you how many lies I told for my customers to warranty their systems, who backyard de-tuned or overpowered their systems into distortion and blown coils. Going the extra mile gave me more compliance with my request to keep the tuning to us. Most likely, and understandably for longevity and lack of warranty issues, they make a mostly complete assembly.

few things to note. Subs in general especially powered subs need to be mounted to a solid base. This will help with the kinetic energy to not be lost by the box moving with the sub. I have never done a DB test but I have mounted them firmly and have noticed a difference. not sure on this specific sub but I know out of the many different brands I have installed I have found the best to be the older kenwood with passive radiator or the newer kicker hideaway. jbl, alpine, newer kenwood all were lacking. rockville surprised me and did well. Now I will always say a traditional amp and sub will outperform these by 100, but if you must have one. I would test the kicker.

I've installed a few under seat subwoofers. They're acceptable for people who absolutely don't want to sacrifice trunk space and it does round out the sound especially in smaller vehicles. But for the money there is no comparison to having a 10 or 12 sealed in the trunk. Or if you actually enjoy bass there are so many cheap options for ported 2 12's.

This isn't a knock against the sub at all, I'm just trying to learn. My mother has a 10 inch under the seat sub made by Kicker. I'm a big fan of Kicker, but this thing does not go low at all. I have an entry level sub from SVS that digs way lower and is way flatter in response. It sounds very one notish as well. I was very surprised at how poorly it performs, but this may be a question of expectation. Perhaps this is a very good sub for what it is? I don't have any previous experience with these types of subs. Any feedback would be appreciated.

They are not meant to get low. They are mean to 'fill' a gap in bass response. Example: BEFORE- "I can't really hear the bass drums in my music." AFTER- " I now hear and feel the bass drums in my music"

One for each seat. Also would have been helpful to see if setting the gain properly for the people interested in these units.

The bass shakers you speak of are transducers. … Another consideration is that these type of enclosures work better when mounted to a solid part of the vehicle much like the other stock speakers in the car. Most diy (non car audio persons) just Velcro them under the seat. Proper mounting likely makes a difference as well.

I agree. They do come with metal mounting hardware and the manual does have them mounted in multiple configurations.

This is ideal when you want to enhance your factory sound. Although, I would replace the factory speakers as well. I don’t know if newer cars have speakers with twitters in them, if they do, this little powered sub it’s all I would buy. I have 2011 Honda I’m not sure how the speakers are.

See this will fit nice in my setup , I have 2014 dodge charger it has the 6x9 upfront for door speakers and 3.5 in the dash and 6x9 in the rear deck.. I’m thinking of grabbing 2 of the 10s and put them under the front seats. It should make an astronomical difference!

Hmm See I have a 03 buick lesabre, got the 6x9 kickers and 2 kicker 6 1/2s up front. Although it gives decent bass the flaw is no speakers in the rear doors 😢. The buicks don't have space under the seats either, BUT one unique thing is the backseat comes out which is where the battery is so I'm getting ideas about using that space should make up for the lack of rear speakers.

So it's actually an 8in woofer and with the enclosure included it's a 10. Overall it's a good unit if you only have 4-6 in drivers in the Car. Thanks for the Review. (side note) 2 of them might really make some good "Punch" in a Sub Compact.

@BudgetBassHead
@BudgetBassHead 2 ай бұрын
I think most of theses subwoofers are active, not too many are passive. But if you have a pickup truck (crew-cab), options for under your rear seat is endless. But depending on your budget, almost every major brand is offering something for an active under-seat solution.

Might have to try this in my 17 altima with the Bose system. Even with the 6x9’s in the rear deck The Bose sounds terrible, my girlfriends base model Hyundai Kona has better bass response then the Bose in mine.
