Love your videos! That is my favorite descrption of most carried knives, It'll turn up vs. have to find it. So many people do these types of videos and come across that you should carry one of their knives or you're wrong, I never get that feeling with your videos. Keep up the great work!

The one knife I use the most and carry almost all the time is the leatherman Sidekick, i also keep a swiss knife and a Sinclair on me. But the knife I use the most is my sidekick. I work in a grocery store and dealing with small repairs to doors, bailer wire, and turning small bolts that could become a safety problem if not handled is just what I do for fun while on the job.

I like my Opinel #8. It's light, has a great blade for the money, and I love the twist lock mechanism. Being able to lock the blade closed as well as open is a nice feature I wish more knives had. My work knife is a 59 cent disposable break-off box cutter. It weighs nothing, and fits very nicely in my pocket. I've gotten more mileage out of that blade than any other I've owned.

Skateboard tape makes great thumb grip on knives that don't have decent jimping. I do the same as you with my Dragonfly, but mine is the VG-10 w/ G-10 scales. I have too many favorites to name, some of them are like yours and some different. I too have many of those "where did I put that" knives that are nice but not used as much. I don't believe in safe queens! My least used but highly favored though is my dress up gent's 940-1 CF (because my Reg. 940 is kind of beat up)! Thanks for the video.

while I would like a Sage, for the price can get 3 to 4 good EDC knifes that I know I would use..... Thus my top 4 usage, generally always have two knifes.... 1) SAK Harvester, I just prefer the pruner (hawkbill) blade for daily cutting chores, Alox scale for grip. 2) SAK Field Master, scissors and wood saw added to a Tinker (old favorite that I easily recommend as a first knife) 3) Dragonfly 2, smaller blade (2.25) inches that offers so much control for EDC, in orange for visibility. 4) Rat 2, 3 inch blade that feels secure in hand with finger choil and jimpiing thumb ramp. A great utility knife, while I do not own a Rat 1 for those with bigger hands or desire something that may also serve in a tactical situation the Rat 1 should be considered.

A light coat of DuraCoat Matte Black/ OD Green/ "insert color here" can take the 'bite' out of grippy handle in any knife you have. I've found that a light coat will still have the grip but my jeans or khakis aren't shredded.

All good choices! You have a fantastic collection of really functional, beautiful knives, perhaps precisely because you identify yourself as a user, rather than a collector. Have you carried a Cold Steel Voyager, and how does it rank for you? I personally find it one of the best EDC blades out. Also, what about Opinels? They aren't modern in design, aren't clipable, and can't be deployed or closed one-handed, but the utility and weight makes them amazing for the price.

Enjoyed the video! I'm going to have to get a griptilian for myself. I would like to make a video request. I see people on KZbin flipping their Spyderco's open with the middle finger and try as I might, I can't seem to get it. You seem to do it quite well and I was wondering if you would be interested in making a brief tutorial video. I think just seeing it slowed way down might help and stating whether there are any kind of practice tips to try. I have a variety of Spyderco's knives so I would think I should be able to manage to flip at least one open with the middle finger. I'm a beast flipping them open with my thumb though.
@JakeLH229 жыл бұрын
I had an issue till I realized putting the bottom of the knife into the lower/center of my palm is the trick. You can't hold it the same way as you would flipping it open with your thumb. Rest the lanyard hole end of the knife against your palm to give it a solid base and resting point to start the flipping action. Using your middle finger is easier than the index or ring for sure also. Hope this helps! Let me know.

Im a huge Spyderco fan. Benchmade, not so much.... they're too goddamn expensive for what you get I think... A few great Spydercos you missed: tenacious, cetefante, and the stretch. Never buy knives with a serrated edge unless you like tearing things instead of cutting. Plain edge every time!

hm. misses of course some opinel for sure. the sure cheapest and most lovely budget knife out there. should be by far at position 1 on ur list, regarding price and what it delivers. ... i mean... real wood handle! why u missed that out? so...yeah... i like the spidey hole and with this i need to like spyderco. reliable, easy and confortable to use, very lightweight, good steel (delica 4, vg10). downside is the way too expensive price, they dont produce wood handles, the blade shape isnt for food prep, delica is too short for food prep--> endura a tad too big and more heavy (also probs with that childish laws regarding blade length). the dragonfly is way too small to use it really for edc. its maybe for... slicing open some packages, cutting some rope. that was it. the ergonomics are superb for such a tiny knife though. they really should create those bigger, in 9cm blade lengrh. with wood handle and slightly different blade shape. would be the almost perfect edc knife. spyderco is very lame in progressing and it seems they give a fart on listening to customer needs and likes.

Im just not a fan of Spyder Co knives. Everyone else seems to really like them, but I just unfortunately dont. Unfortunately because they are well known, widely available, tons of variety, decent quality, but I just dont like their designs. The shape, their choice of colors, and dislike their choices of materials in the handles... Just kind of a "meh" for me when it comes to Spyder Co.... :(

+Leonard Szubinski The Kershaw Leek is actually really good as well as the Spyderco Tenacious (Though it's black mark against it is that it's made in China, or at least mine was). I don't know about the rest but those two are definitely good. They may be small but they're super useful. If you want something big and aggressive, I suggest the SOG Vulcan, Tomcat 3.0 or the biggest one of them all, the Fatcat. These might empty out your wallet quite a bit but they're definitely up your alley.
