Something i added to my edc belt also takes up no room, cut an old cd into a small rectangle 2x3 "....makes an awesome signal mirror, try it youll be surprised, just slip it in a pouch and you'll forget its there until you need it.👍good vid

NEW ADDITION: I've listened to your feedback and removed some of the fire-starting redundancies and added a mylar blanket (I always keep a jacket in my backpack but I wanted to have everything possible in this belt)! I won't add a water bottle due to the weight but I still do have that 1 liter standing water bag with water purification tablets and I am in a very wet environment and I never leave the house without a steel container of water with several plastic bottles in my trunk as well as 2 bugout bags in my car. Thanks again for the help in the comment section!

Try adding a Sawyer Mini life straw and it comes with a bag to drink from that collapses. It makes your water purification setup kinda useless cus it's a life straw. Much easier.

I think, for me, you could pare it down slightly , BUT it's your belt, your preference, and you have what you obviously feel comfortable with! ♥ I would have, maybe, a titanium cup, teabags, and a survival blanket to sit on lol, I like a cuppa at ANY time!! 😁

Incredibly awesome ideas. While I don't have one YET, I'm planning one, but, I have a list what to include. Some, not all, the specifics are different, many are similar or same. Confirms my thinking, and gives me additional ideas. I do plan on a small boo-boo kit, mostly for deep cuts and twists. A broken bone, pew/pew wound would calls for full on first aid kit the very top of my pack. Also I chose a Katadine 'Be Free' instead of the tablets. Tablets take less room. Also quick energy bars. Like I said, I'm planning stages. I may be planning too much after considering yours. However I like the challenges. (I'm 64 and challenge you young pups. I may not win the race but I can more than hold my own.)

Only thing I could think of that you need differently is a tarp/cover at least one. They have ones that are big enough and strong enough to hold up in weather and fit into your pocket. And a water bottle holder or canteen.

A few recommendations: Your belt is tight around your belly. Unless a belt is a few inches below one's navel, you eliminate roughly 25% of your breathing capacity, reducing one's speed in an emergency or preference and slowing ascent speed as well. Your saw and saw affects your thought concentration due them hanging down and most likely striking your leg as you move. Your second knife is horizontally located preventing the problem. However if you put it on the other side and turn the handle around, you could quickly remove it. Your Laplander saw doesn't have sharpened teeth. As a result it cups slowly and binds up frequently when cutting. I threw mine away after comparing it to my Corona saw. Where is your bivy, tarp and sufficient amount of rope for descending if necessary and construction needs?
@carnivorecaveman2 жыл бұрын
Your belt is very good, I like it... Still, the belt itself - I think - is better if made not from leather but from paracord! I made my belt (actually not only one but 3) from paracord 550 ! It is wonderful feeling that the belt I have around my waist is made by I myself... and of course, it is superstrong.

I am seriously considering this as the contents of my bugout bag require me to remove it, shuffle it around, and constantly shift the contents. I was considering a way to have more commonly used items within reach in organized pouches, would really help to share the load instead of all on my pack, and I could still run a pack for jacket, tarp, socks, etc items. I would find a quality headlamp to be able to keep both hands free and working and still be able to see. I also built a basic first aid kit incase of deep cuts. They have this compressed gauze that takes up very little room. Gauze can be used to wound pack, secure stuffing within a wound, wrap around to make splint, or just used as a bandaid over more minor cuts. People get crazy with all these fancy Israeli bandages with built in tension bar etc but adding a few twists over the wound with regular gauze also creates pressure without the added bulk. I can fit 4 rolls (squares) of compressed gauze in my back pocket. Each is like 10 yards.
@jarvisskooge8602 Жыл бұрын
Very comprehensive setup… but that’s a LOT of stuff on a belt. I’d simplify and put the bulk in a haversack. Take care.

Make up a few paracord danglers. Add various sizes of carabiners for more hanging points. You can then add a magnifying lens pouch, a flint & steel kit, a stainless steel water bottle and, perhaps a machete. Use ranger bands on that or the large ESSE to hold a 55 gal contractor garbage bag shelter, another fire steel and a backup multi-tool. Consider gaining some more weight around the middle. Every inch of belt length you add, the more function you can add to your belt kit. Such as a FAK, Write in the Rain notebook to go with the combo pen & Sharpie. Plus a few more girth adder food bars. Just a little musing at the keyboard, this morn. Thanks for sharing.

Ain't survival fun? And good for the economy, too. ;-) Lately, I've been configuring my gear pretty much from what I can scrounge from around the house. One thing I've found that is quite good is jute twine. No expensive tinder paracord required. I find Bic-type lighters laying around here quite often, so don't have to buy that. My bags/belts are nylon bags from the Thrift Store or garage sales. My canteens are used plastic drink bottles. A ziplock bag or two and Katadyn chlorine dioxide tabs for water purification, yep. I'm a knife collector of sorts, so got that covered. Multitool? My Leatherman Squirt that's been on my keychain for 15 years suffices. Shelter is a contractor garbage bag. Food? Cheetos, 10 of which is as much as I can stomach and makes me feel comfortably bloated. Anyway, you get the idea. This is way more fun than shopping online, and I can easily save enough to buy another knife or gun, which is my real jewelry. Have a normal day, while you still can. ;-)

Everyone has priorities and preferences. Back-ups are great but this kit has too many redundancies I think. Also, it seems like a lot of belt kits just ignore a canteen completely. If it were me I would get rid of the extra knives, the big flashlight and the extra fire stuff and add a stainless steel canteen w/ cup, some cordage and a lightweight rain poncho that can double as a tarp. Out of all the things I carry on my belt kit my canteen is by far the most used.

Admittedly a utility belt is very practical, that said, however, with current events (Sep. 2020) it would be wiser to be less conspicuous. Therefore, a pair of cargo pants with all the multiple pockets with a two pocket button down shirt and a utility type of jacket like a ranchers jacket would be more prudent. These should all be done in earth-tones, i.e. spruce green, desert tan, earth brown, various shades of gray. Never, never use camouflage clothes, while good for hunting it is a dead give away for those targeting preppers. Also don't use all black clothing, today this is the informal uniform of contemporary terrorists. Finally, a small inconspicuous backpack, like a day-pack may well serve, but keep it to a minimum. It is better to have cashes strategically placed with goods in area where you might frequent.
