My utility belt is set up on philosophy "Survival kit" and this kit must keep me alive no mater what !! All of the item are fit in military canteen pouch !! As a shelter I have painters ground plastic cloth and 2 mylar space blankets . It will get me out of wind and rain in a Mather of minutes !! For fire I have ferro rod , BIC lighter in waterproof sleeve and pice of jute rope soaked in beeswax. With that system I can start a fire even with wet wood For water I have kidney shape mikitary stainless steel canteen cup , for carrying water I have 2 litter dry bag, I don't have any water treatment tablets , I always boil water in a cup. Over head mosquitoes net. Very important to keep bugs away when you trying to get some rest !! Plus you can pre-filter some water through that !!!! Beeswax 8 hours candle .... this is for to get warm fast. I throw painters cloth over my head light up candle with my BIC lighter and it's get me worm enough in 10- 15 minutes , then when I'm comfortable i can build shelter out of my kit. For cordage I have spool of upholsery thread . In spool is 150 yards of thread. It's about 10lb breaking point. It's good enough to making fishing line , floss teeth, rigged up trip for small game and improvise shelter.. I do have sawing needle to. For directions I have compas For signaling whistle , mirror and pistol For personal protection 357 magnum, 6 rounds in it and 6 more with me . I have little container with peanut butter It's a bait for trap . About 5 ginger candies , about 5 chicken bullion qubes . On my belt is a Essee 6 knife , silky saw , my pistol and leatherman wave multitool. Multitool is not part of a kit , It just been with me for so many years , I'm afraid to loose it !!! In my cargo pocket us leather working gloves. All of those items are fit in military canteen pouch well even some room left !!! But this is not old style pouch from WW2 , this is newer one with two little pockets on sides . Those pockets are good to put altoid tins in them !!!! By belt is russian military officer keather belt from 1980s !!! I did test that kit , in Colorado winter , and it's absolutely bullet proof !! All you need just basic knowledge of "How to" and you'll be jyst fine !!!! Oh ye also I have garmin in reach device. If I'm realy messed up I push red button and help is on the way !! I know it's probably $50.000 bill comes with it. But I'm rather be broke than dead !!!))

I have had the same leather belt for 30 years. Unfortunately, it has shrunk over the years, and I have to keep putting more eye holes in it.

A problem I also have. Do you think its the leather treatment, or is it that the cattle of today are inferior to those of days begone?

Good to see you on here again. Those Swedish gloves are the bomb!! I don't know if you've considered it, but we still have one glovemakers left in the UK, Dent's, down in Devon, they might be willing to tailor and stitch those gloves to fit you perfectly. Until 2015 we had a firm called Alwyn Gloves in Worcester who made (carriage/buggy) driving gloves for the late Phil The Greek HRH, the owner Les Winfield would take the finished glove components out to a bunch of ladies in Oxfordshire who'd stitch them for him. Pity that resource has been lost. Compliments of the season to you Andrew.

Hey, did you happen to do the A-Z of Bushcraft videos around a decade ago? I don't do bushcraft, but those videos certainly influenced the way I camp now and how I look at tool usage and my footprint overall in the environment. Good stuff, I hope to learn more!

I’m just putting together my leather bushcraft belt kit, still need a leather pouch for my saw, for now I can carry it in my foraging/dump pouch. Want to find a better leather belt than the one I’m using but it will do for now. I’m using two possible pouches, one is leather and the other is waxed canvas. Looking forward to using my kit

After owning many knives I now have only couple. I usually carry cheap bahco 1446, mora companion or a self made puukko. The blade has to be thin. Sometimes i wear Finnish army knife i rehandled to look like a yakut knife. I have small utility pouch that contains a coarse alumine oxide stone with fine 💎 I glued to other side, lighter and fire steel. Gloves ride in my back pocket but i sometimes have military water bottle on my belt. I rarely carry a saw but sometimes i slip a thin folding knife in the pouch.

I'm still trying to understand Bush craft. I do some backpacking and hiking and carry a knife, first aid kit, water filter etc. But they're all modern.
@NightsideOfParadiseСағат бұрын
Nothing wrong with modern gear. Bushcraft is about carrying less on your hips and more in your mind.

OK very interesting kit... Mine has a water bottle ... gathering bag or dump pouch ...2 loose snaps for danglers... one 124 buck knife ... ... my everyday belt has pocket knife in a leather pouch .. multi tool in a leather pouch ... 4 inch 192 buck .. all leather minus the belt and 2 buck knife sheaths I made, died, and fashioned

My eye immediately went to the sweater. Good sweaters are hard to find in the US. All my best are on their last legs, and none looked as robust as this one. It's been quite a while since I last searched the web. Time to do so again.

While the Silky is a quality tool, I still don't see the superiority over the Bahco.

You have a Land Rover? How is it holding up? I hear they are horrible total money eaters,full of needed repairs.
@andrewthomasprice15572 күн бұрын
You heard right.... There's always something about to go on them. Mine is a 1998 300Tdi Defender, so parts are generally quite reasonably priced (Compared with modern vehicles), but they do eat up a lot of time, just keeping them on the road. They look cool though. ;-)
@sipapito2 күн бұрын
Yes super cool,I always wanted one of them but just can’t not justify the repair prices specially on a newer Rover, just lock out, you have an older one they are a lot better for what I heard.
