Nice well thought out kit Marty. Practical and not just loaded up with whatever items you can fit in each nook and cranny.

Nice kit. I am torn about an "EDC" survival kit and what it includes. For EDC (where I don't spend time in the outdoors that much), I would not carry 4 Fire Starting items. I might carry a Lighter and a light sparker or matches (for example). In a wilderness kit, I'd surely carry a fuller range of options for fire, but not for EDC. Always fun to see what other people choose.

A nice, comprehensive and well considered kit comprised of good quality components. Survival kits are paying forward one's ability to overcome adversity and survive, therefore the best of each type of addition should be considered. Dollar/Euro/Pound store contents aren't the thing, this kit uses the best type and quality of contents, the owner rightly values his prospects of survival by investing in the tools to assist that aim. Subscribed.

You need some medicine: painkiller, fever relieve, anti allergy, anti diarrhea and antiseptic. sometimes a fever or a infection from a small cut can bring you down really fast, a allergy from a insect bite can potentially kill you, a diarrhea can bring you to a severe dehydration in no conditions to address it properly and pain can make you think less clearly and make bad decisions, besides bringing your morale down. 2 pills of each medicine a little antiseptic don't add much weight or volume and can save your life. I would also recommend a little of sunscreen: sun burn and insulation can also jeopardize your survival chances in a emergency and small tubes of the lotion will easily fit on your kit. Consider a little of duck-tape (maybe around your lighter) since it can fix a lot of things and it is flammable. For last, if this was my kit, i would give up on some of the fire starters replacing it with a portable water's filter (like sawyer)

Caffeine pills & lots of sugar. If you need to move fast for a long time.. It may take a week to recover, but no-doze & jelly beans can fuel a marathon if need be

@@BudgetBugout I just think for an "EDC" do you really need more than a bic and a couple waterproof matches? This is an EDC not a bugout, right?
@christiandalessandro53764 жыл бұрын
@BudgetBugout Yeah, I'd agree, it's bit much on the fire. I carry a 2 lighters, a few matches and a ferro rod when I go into the back country. I carry extras in case something gets wet, and even then I do my best to waterproof everything. That being said, I'd personally include a pen and paper. Electronics fail and important instructions, directions, etc are nice to write down. If your lost, you can draw a map of the area. A small map is actually also a good idea to have.
@teslacoiler3 жыл бұрын
Try to divide the items in 3 categories: - what you NEED (eg, what you use on regular basis) - What you MAY NEED (eg, what you usually don't need but you may need in some circumstances) - what is a NICE TO HAVE (eg, what you don't strictly need but that can make things easier). Then pack the items in this way: - One main thing + one backup of things you NEED (a third backup may be an option, but only if it is very small and light) - One main thing of everything you MAY NEED (a backup may be an option, but only if it is very small and light) - One thing of whats is a NICE TO HAVE (no need a backup if is not strictly needed!) BTW, if you have items you use on a regular basis (what you NEED), you can carry the main items on your person and leave in the bag only the backups and the less important other (basically the things you MAY NEED and what is NICE TO HAVE). Starting a fire may not be the best solution....in this scenario a small hand warmer may be helpful.

I have toothpaste and a toothbrush in mine, flashlight, water straw, Mylar blanket w/bank line and some other tools like a CRKT spork, wrench and pen screwdriver/-and a WHOLE LOT OF FIRE MAKING ABILITY, and a lot more. Most people needing a survival kit are lost, not trying to escape or hide!
@trooperjinthewoods45384 жыл бұрын
@@nathanadrian7797 I understand that, but it's an every day carry kit to be used to aid in getting out of trouble. Packing high visibility gear may easily draw unwanted attention to yourself therefore defeating the purpose of having a survival kit. A soldier carries the same gear but it doesn't stand out , therefore increasing his chances of survival . Making a successful survival kit is having gear you can use to survive with, having high visibility gear won't keep you warm and you can't eat it, it will only draw fire on your position or aid thugs and search parties to find your cold and or dead body.

Good kit, but not exactly a pocket kit. I hate to be the harsh person, but there's a lot of problems with this kit, but good things too. Just way too much for the everyday person. I would rather have a few key items I carry always than a ton that I would rarely have on me. Altoids size max. Anything else goes in a bag, home, or work.
@nathanadrian77974 жыл бұрын
If you are in a survival situation, and injure a hand or arm, how will you untie all that para cord with just one hand? How about your weak hand? It looks very impressive, but I wonder at its practicality. As for electronic gadgets, where I camp, hike and play there is no cell service! Your kit is nice but too large and too heavy, that Altoids can is about the right size!!
