I love your weekly meals videos. I always wondered as a single person how I would be able to buy plenty of food that you can make great meals with on a budget but you show it can be done. Thanks for the inspiration. I have tried overnight oats but it's been a while and I need to try it again.

Love those Pyrex Tupperwares! I requested them for Christmas last year and got two huge packs so I was able to get rid of the nasty old meaty plastic ones! Money well spent!

Love your meal prep videos. I'm a bit (ok a lot!) competitive and I always try to out-budget BudgetGirl. I never do :-) we are a family of four with a 15 & 17 year old. This week I am making (1) Slow Cooker Cassoulet with chicken thighs. (2) Chicken Broccoli Stir-fry over rice (3) Spaghetti. The rest of the dinners will be leftovers and if we run out - breakfast for dinner one night and I will make pancakes & eggs.

Looks like another good week ahead for you! I bought a discounted wholemeal sliced loaf in Lidl today (UK) and it was 25 pence, which equals 38 cents, I think. It had a "sell by" date for tomorrow but since I freeze it and only use a couple of slices a day for toast, that's fine! I love your accent btw, especially when you say "care-its", instead of carrots. LOL xx

+Mind Over Munch They could have used a little something else to boost the flavor (I was pretty skimpy on the creamer), but the chocolate coffee ones turned out AMAZING. They tasted just like CoCo Puffs! I'll definitely keep experimenting!

you asked what we are eating this week. Well tonight family of 3 1/2 are having chicken legs that I got for 20lbs for $11. put a bunch in the slow cooker and after they were almost cooked I mixed brown sugar splenda and yellow mustard for a sauce. smells great. for those who don't like the sauce I am broiling a quart jar of my canned chicken legs. a big pot of rice which will be transformed into fried rice for another meal. Corn and homemade coleslaw. total cost for the meal is about $5. that is for a meal with enough left overs for my son tomorrow and rice for tomorrow night. Tues. subs, homemade big dinner rolls, roast beef, ham, vidalia onions, green peppers, romaine lettuce, pickles, olives sub sauce. the only things I don't make from scratch are the peppers, sub sauce onions and in the winter lettuce and olives.. pickles I did myself a couple years ago. Wed. batter fried fish with fries or onion blobs, deep fried chicken balls. Fried rice and coleslaw. for 4 total price is about 10. Thurs. macaroni and hamburger corn spinach and lettuce salad and coleslaw. $3. Friday will be a meal of what ever is left over plus some popcorn chicken and chicken nuggets. $5. Each meal will have pickles as well. balanced healthy sort of luv watching what you buy and cook. got the idea for subs from your sandwich lunches.

+Budget Girl watching your video of meal planning has got me started a bit more into thinking ahead. hard after being a SAHM and wife for 40 years. But now with 2 60 year olds a 34 year old and a 4 year old I have to become a bit more creative. This month I am attempting to cook simply from what I have in the house. Got $300 worth of groceries 2 weeks ago for $99 due to points in the store and have only bought milk and cucumber and grape tomatoes for school lunches eggs and vidalia onions. about $20 so far. Without those items needed I could probably go for about 3-4 months without going near a store. Rice I see you buy a lot of stores well in the big metal coffee cans or even coffee mate cans. I stored some 2 years ago and am using it now. No not a true prepper just thinking ahead and in winter roads close here quite frequently and for some reason we enjoy eating regularly. :) Buy in bulk and stock up on things that won't go bad. Store left overs in mason jars to make them last longer. :) keep doing videos I need a kick in the butt every once in a while. and I enjoy watching you.

you can use baby powder or corn starch in place of dry shampoo. It is much cheaper, just make sure you don't put too much on and brush it out after.

i love the Pyrex. When I was young, that was my Thanksgiving gift to myself. If I could share an idea? I would put the green beans in the sides of the lasagne to save hitting the microwave twice and washing the two bowls vs. one. Every time that electric and water heater/well, etc. kick on, that is added expense. Question: would dried fruit go ok in the oatmeal? i have never eaten it cold. I have lots of dried fruit or should it be reconstituted?
@BudgetGirl7 жыл бұрын
it would probably be similar to adding nuts. I think it would be fine. also i love dried fruit.

Hi Budget Girl! I just wanted to drop by and say that Brothers Green Eats just finished a series about living on $3 a day and I thought it was really interesting, so I wanted to know if you'd seen it. If you haven't it's a pretty good watch and their channel is really fun too!

Your new containers are so happy! I do have two questions: can you microwave them without fear of shattering, or do you put the food in another microwave-safe container? Also, are you worn-out plastic containers recyclable? Keep up the great work! :-)
