This lecture examines the financial issues that need to be thought about when putting in grant proposals. It focuses on the UK context and looks at the range of things that can be funded and the way that financial details are now presented in most UK applications. The session also looks at some of the other details needed in grant applications such as the definition of work packages and the provision of information about when work will be done and by whom, for example, in the form of Gantt charts. This was a lecture given to postgraduate (graduate) students at the University of Huddersfield as part of a course on Writing and Appraising Research Bids.
