@@eudymaverickmentor Budgie + Led Zep = Black Sabbath.
@eudymaverickmentor5 жыл бұрын
@@mael-strom9707 Actually it's more like Iron Butterfly + Led Zep = Black Sabbath. Iron Butterfly was the first band to develop the "Goth" sound. This was because Doug Ingle, the organist, was taught to play keys by his father who played organ in church. So he developed a sort of "church" sound to his approach to playing. Coupled with Lead Guitarist Eric Brann (Braun), a 17 year old wonder kid guitarist who was a classically trained concert violinist. These two gave Iron Butterfly their trademark "Goth" sound. Next to show up in Black Sabbath.
@mael-strom97075 жыл бұрын
@@eudymaverickmentor True, Iron Butterfly did develop that Goth sound but in my view (and it's only an opinion) they went on a psychedelic tangent with their riffs, relying too much ( again only an opinion) on that organ sound. Just a personal thing I guess, but I just could not get used to an organ sound in heavy metal riffs. Deep Purple and Uriah Heep got away with that sound but that genre of music for me is more like heavy rock than heavy metal. By the way I'm a fan of both genres, that's probably why I've defected to J-Metal from Japan with bands like Aldious, Destrose, Bloody Mary, Lovebites and upcoming wonders, a 3 piece band called Asterism.
@eudymaverickmentor5 жыл бұрын
@@mael-strom9707 Yes, I agree. That was my point. Iron Butterfly had the "Goth" sound but were not heavy rock. Ergo the "Goth" sound merged with Led Zeppelin gives you Black Sabbath. Heavy Rock/Metal Goth. Glad you found some bands you like. I am too old. I am 64. Have listened to so much good heavy rock, pop metal bores me. That's just me. The horrible shredding guitar work is just too repetitive, expected and tedious. Pyrotechnics with nothing to say. And personally, most women just don't have the balls to sing metal. Comes of as Brittany Spears sings metal elevator music. To each his own. Of course, Windy O had the balls to pull it off. Lemmy & Wendy O'Williams - Jailbait kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaLVmo1qZZKNfcU

Great band and song. The only thing that I have a hard time with is the singer’s voice. same with Led Zep.. I love their music, but Robert Plant’s castrato pitch voice pisses me off. Never got used to it. It is not cool for a man to sing like he’s been emasculated, especially in hard rock/metal. It took a long time for people to stop… even Phil Anselmo was doing it at the beginning, like in shattered (albeit a great song). I might sound like an Ayatollah, but if you want high pitch voice, hire a woman.
