@Snowbell the budgie life I had more then 30 budgies inside an aviary and I always took a good care of them But I get what you saying.... many people don't keep budgies as pets They keep them only for breeding and make money and all😕

When I got my BudDee,he didnt chirp at all.( I seriously thought something was wrong with him) but since he came to live with me,Hes not terribly affectionate, but he knows! I'm a safe person,and he chirps all the time.often lands on me,and gives me kisses. He chirps at night occasionally, ( and I respond " go back to sleep,I'm right here", and he goes back to sleep) I dont know if they dream,but his previous owner was abusive. I saved him just in time. Wonderful little guy,even learning to step up,and not be afraid of me.

Once my bird was sitting on my shoulder facing my ear and he thought It would be a good idea to do his calling chirp and it hurt so bad 😭 he passed away in 2020 but that’s like a vague memory I have of him

Actually, if you only have one then the single budgie/parakeet will typically make you part of its “flock” 🥰

I have only 1 budgie, and he is quite old, so he has his moments of silence when he naps. He doesn’t really do those high-pitched tweeting calls, but he chirps, grinds his beak, and chatters a lot, so I think he is happy 🥰 He especially does lots of cute chirps when we give him veggies! He does some angry chirps when it's late at night and wants us to turn off the lights 😆

I usually hear the mumbling chrip sound when they are resting or trying to sleep. The happy chirps they usually make when I communicate to them with the same type of noise as the happy chirps. The angry chirps I hear when I put my hand in their cage for giving them food or when I accidentally spill water when I'm giving them water.

There is also the hissing voice they make when you are too close and make them uncomfortable. But you have to pay attention to it because their hissing is pretty much minimal. Also the arguing sound I think they make them when they are overwhelmed with happiness/cockiness too

My budgie has some very distinct sounds. For calling he has a very loud, single tone whistle. When something makes him happy he makes a similar sound, but with all signs of playfulness/happiness (small pupils, feathers on his head standing up and such). If he wants to get out of his cage or wants more attention / me to stay he'll make an almost human-like groaning sound. Strangely enough, we never learned him to groan like that. Though he can also do a higher pitched version of that combined with a scared look (flat feathers) to signal us it's night night time.

Every time there are Sparrows outside, especially when they are making sounds, my budgie starts doing the loud calling sounds and occasionally gets angry and makes very loud unhappy sounds. I don't know if that's because she hates sparrows or because she wants to hang out with them, but can't.

I cover mine every night, it’s pitch black in their cage but if there’s noise then they will chirp. I have to be so quiet around them at night like they are babies 😂

May you help me with my budgie Jewel. He’s been making these strange, sort of whimpering, noises. One moment, he would be silent, another he would start and continue making these sounds, even when I try speaking in a calm voice to get him to relax.
