First time I saw my rescue budgie doing this crop adjustment, I nearly had a heart attack. By devolish coincidence it was also the day my grandpa died, so on the one hand we were sad he had died (very peacefully in his sleep, aged 92) and on the other we were mortified Iris was really sick. Thankfully she stopped doing it when she got distracted by a toy, I found a video (Denny's probably) which explained it, and crisis was avoided, so thanks for making this info available, it really helps! On a funnier note, when I notice my budgies doing the "I'm boiling-hot" wing thing I prepare them a bath, always expecting them to dive in it head first, but they usually ignore it and prefer to cool off out of the water. Crazy birds.

Salvador Budgie, can you please help me out? I don't know why my female budgie is making a squeaking sound like baby budgies. She is currently breeding and 4/8 eggs hatched. Is it because of dyspnea or coping baby budgie sound or because of excessive egg laying, because she laid already 8 eggs and I don't know if she is finding breeding fun and also I don't know if she has more eggs. Also baby budgie pooped on her cere or must be some other thing but it's like poop only. Can you please say me how to stop budgie laying more eggs and what is that baby budgie sound she is making?

Hi, I don't have a lot of experience with breeding budgies but I do know that your budgie might make squeaking sounds from various reasons, it can be that she has difficulty breathing due to some respetory infection or it might even be that she have egg-binding. I suggest to visit a vet or contact one online for small fee and ask them about that, try "pet coach" About the dirty cere, are you sure it's poop? It might be dry food that got stuck while she was feeding her chicks. I also suggest to remove the nesting box after all the babies will leave the nest.
