How can I see an English translation of this interview?

You can activate the subtitles by clicking on 'CC' on the bottom of the video. Then, you can choose the language you want through 'settings' (gear wheel icon), section 'Subtitles/CC'.

Hi, I am totally sorry, but this guy, Kimura Jiro, does not a bit of the AiKiDo of Kobayashi sensei!!! He seems to not even know the most basic terms he said in practically every training. At 5:50, what had to come would be his term "Meguri", one of his specialties. Another thing only he did to this day (of the great AiKiDo masters of O-Sensei), what you also can see on the "old videos" shown here, is that he nearly always had his hand closed, nearly like a fist, but of course not tensed at all. Kimura Jiro, and obviously his students all have the Te-Katana of the classical AiKiKai, also seen here in this video on and on. So from my point of view (over 30 years of AiKiDo following Kobayashi Hirkazus approach, Kimura Jiro may say, he does Kobayashi AiKiDo, but he doesn't at all!

Hi, I am totally sorry but you guy do not a bit of Kobayashi sensei's Aikido. Kobayashi's Aikido was entirely built on a moral and ethical outcome of the technique. The most basic form of respect when commenting on someone is to actually listen to what he says, and he happens to say that he doesn't consider himself to be Kobayashi's successor on a technical perspective. Of course, as a gentleman, it will never come out of his own mouth, but as one of the interviewers, who happens to have also interviewed Andre Cognard, and to have practiced for several years in his group, I can say that if there is something Kimura sensei took from Kobayashi, it's his moral, tolerance, and kindness. "What, what is this guy saying? He doesn't even know me." That little feeling that is bogging you right now, reading my comment, is exactly what you should hang to if you want to go deeper into Kobayahi sensei's Aikido. Because in the end, what really counts is what you do with what your master taught you. Not if you're a technical copycat.

@@jordydelage4304 (and the people of the makers of the video behind him) Hi, I don't know what you fantasising about. First, I give you an advice. If you want to discuss something, you should be able to discuss, which you are obviously not. If you "mean" something, that is not an argument. If you say "but this guy interview that guy", is also no argument. But if you want to discuss, it is neccessary to make arguments, that someone can discuss with you. I could say I know Maitre Cognard since decades, also I was a student of Kobayashi Hirokazu for decades. But I won't say, because it doesnt mean at all, that I am right in what I am put up. Mr. Kimura doesnt know much or anything about his technique, his life, his ideas, his teaching, how he was personally etc. This is all clear, when you listen to what he says in the interview. So in all these points, he couldn't be a successor of Kobayashi Hirokazu. He only takes his organization over, bureaucraticly. Nothing more, nothing less. When you see the training there, you could also see, that none of the shown students ever trained under Kobayashi sensei, or never picked anything up from him. But the video implies, that Kimura sensei has any clue about Kobayashi sensei, or his AiKiDo. And that is, IMHO, nor right. We live in an age were free speech is not welcome anymore. You can see this also here. I put my commentary under all 3 parts of the video. Now 2 of it are deleted. Also, there was a very dumb and unkind answer to my post here, after I put it up, from the makers of the video. This is also deleted, I guess, because even the makers of the video found out, that this answer of them was not very clever. Not you, Jordy, seems to be asked of them, to "answer" for them. Very poor, and not transparent. For all of you makers of the video. I am thankful for the work you do, even if I find it not good, what is not the case. I only made the point, that, in my eyes, you pretend something, that is not. If you really would have named it right, all would be good. And, as you know what you have wrote first to my commentary and insulted me, I answer to you as well. If it would be clear that he is only the beaurocratic new chief of his organization. So then why did you ask this guy several times specifically about the techniques, his life, his time as an Uchi Deshi at the Hombu, his time as an fighter pilot in WW2, his way of teaching when you knew, that Kimura sensei has no knowledge on all of that?!

@@alex11174 I am being extremely factual. Kobayashi sensei was certainly not someone who would have accepted, less used, a phrasing such as "but this guy, Kimura Jiro". You lost in your first sentence, and I have absolutely no intention to discuss with you. When I face disrespect, from someone hidden behind his keyboard, with no credentials to show, I am extremely happy to use an argument from authority: I know what I'm talking about. You have the right to free speech, as far as you're not insulting anyone. I haven't insulted you. I put you in front of your own disrespect. If you took it as an insult, then you know what feeling your comment projects. That's Aikido. You have not the right of spamming, which is why all duplicates have been deleted. Before lecturing me on the logic of argumentation, you might want to check your own facts. Not a single of Kobayashi's students I have met was able to confirm Kobayashi Hirokazu's participation as a WW2 fighter/kamikaze pilot. Contrary to what you are doing here, I assemble facts, and I base my opinion on those facts. For the rest, you have no idea what was discussed off camera, and I can tell you that your tendency to judge with partial facts and to talk of people with disrespect is an attitude that none of Kobayashi sensei's student have. PS: Keep in mind that my patience as its limits, and that free speech is conditioned to your ability to discuss with courtesy.

@@jordydelage4304 Spamming? You should look up, what spamming is. I did not spam at all. You made the video 3 parts, I commented 3 parts. I said nothing disrespecting, if you see some of my writings as disrespectful, its maybe your view on it. It is totally unimportant to me and all other viewers, what was discussed off camera, because nobody of us viewers can see what was discussed off camera. I dont talk about things I dont know. "Kobayashi sensei was certainly not someone...". Again, you make something up you dont know at all. I comparison to you, I was a student of Kobayashi, I knew him for way over 10 years, I know how respectful and sometimes disrespectful he was. This is a very bad style to discuss. The german title of your video now says "Kobayashi Hirokazus Technique and Teaching Style". Still, this is a totally misleading title, because Kimura Jiro has not the slightest idea of his technique and teaching style. So, in my eyes, you should change that. P.S. Nobody needs your patience, all anybody needs is free speech. Not speech you define if its free or not.

@@alex11174 Spamming definition: "send the same message indiscriminately to" www.google.fr/search?hl=en&q=Spamming+definition The netiquette doesn't allow copy/pasting the same message several times within the same space, or within similar spaces. You don't know what you're talking about, and objectively have some issues with the English language nuances. That's perfectly fine, but here, you're either attacking me for no reasons, or you know the definition and are using a straw man fallacy. Free speech borders and limits have been discussed by philosophers and legislators for centuries. Feel free to reduce it to a yes or no question if you'd like, but it's not how I see it, and here, I make the decisions. Free speech in my own home has the limits I decide it has. Insults, fallacies and disrespect are some of the limits. Free speech implies responsibilities, and mainly the responsibility to keep exchanges constructive and courteous. In any case, that's your final warning. Next time you're defaming/insulting/disrespecting anyone here, your comments will be simply and purely deleted. Finally, to answer your point, I have read and listen most (perhaps all what's in English, French and Japanese) of what has been published on Kobayashi sensei, and I know several of his students. You can claim whatever you want, as long as you stay anonymous, your "personal opinion" alone has less value than all the opinions I have collected through 20 years of studies. Now, as you have failed to make any interesting point, but only shown disrespect toward a sensei/senior, this discussion ends here. I wish you all the best on your path.
