So…producers…if they’re looking at a picture and talking about it, maybe let us take a look?

Also, why does it feel like this was under researched? Y’all, if the schedule’s so bad that you have to rush these out without finishing the story… things really need to change. None of us blame y’all, and we’re aware of what’s happened there… so I hope this comment (and ALL like it) make their way up the chain…

I appreciate the motorcycle content however i wish there was a proper bike guy on for these types of episodes. I feel like there is something lost when the hosts can't relate to the material.

You just gotta ride one to get it, there's plenty of bikes over 100HP today but very very few make gobs of torque without crazy RPM

When you don't know any facts, just make stuff up as you go along. Harley Davidson bought into Aeromacchi a few years before AMF. AMF streamlined HD they took drastic measures to reduce production costs. Production quality went down on Motorcycles that were already outdated and not very reliable. AMF also infused the Cash that HD needed to Develop a more reliable engine, the EVO Evolution motor. Buell made many improvements to the EVO motor and used it in the majority of Buell's excluding the Modern Liquid cooled overhead cam 4 valve head Halicon Motor.

Grew up riding Japanese dirtbikes and sportbikes, never liked Harleys, but rode a friend's XB9S Lightning, liked it and eventually bought myself an XB12X Ulysses. Rode it all over the west coast, underrated bike! Would've been cool to see a new Ulysses with the Pan America engine combined with some innovative Buell concepts. Or a new Lightning at least.

As a proud (and doomed) owner of a 1125R, thank you for this podcast, even if it could have been a bit more detailed. There were some rumors that Erik Buell originally wanted to turbocharge the engine of the XB12 and so started to find manufacturers for a turbo, but H-D refused to buy parts and told him to instead build one in house. Of course this meant skyrocketing costs to the conception of the bike and that never amounted to anything. There are some videos of the closing of the East Troy factory and it's heartbreaking to see people putting totally new bikes and part to the crusher. It was a disgrace..

The Barton Buell learned of the small, privately held general-purpose engine maker Barton (based in Great Britain) in 1981. He bought their limited production racer, powered by a water-cooled 750 cc Square Four two-stroke engine. (The Barton was featured prominently in the 1980 motion picture "Silver Dream Racer".) The bike was poorly manufactured and was constructed from cheap materials. The engine was plagued with issues. Buell felt that with his engineering background, he could improve the engine. As parts failed he re-engineered them to increase reliability, and in many cases saw performance gains with his modifications. The chassis was a lost cause, and Buell designed his own chassis. The engine often failed before completing a race. Buell first raced a prototype of his bike, using the mostly stock Barton engine, in the summer of 1982 at the AMA National on the Pocono Speedway. He dubbed it the RW750 (RW standing for Road Warrior). During testing at Talladega, AL, the RW750 was clocked at a top speed of 178 mph (286 km/h). He raced in the 500 cc-dominated Formula One class (the Barton engine was designed prior to 1978 and was grandfathered into this class by AMA rules). He found some success at the local club levels despite the grossly overpowered, unrefined engine. In 1982, Barton closed, and Buell was given the option to purchase the entire stock of spare engines and parts, drawings, and the rights to produce and sell the engine. Buell did so, but the shipment was delayed, and he missed the opportunity to make use of this new equipment and knowledge for the 1983 racing season. This delayed the development of the engine.

Speaking as someone that has a few old Buells in the UK , it would be good if these podcasts spent more time on the models, innovation etc. rather than 25 mins of the podcast on irrelevant , not terribly interesting chat and sales pitches. Also have people that know and are interested in motorcycles or the subject that they are talking about. I’ve been listening since the beginning, I’m sorry to say these sound less researched, and generally poorer than they used to be. Nolan is good tho. He should join the other 2 on Big Time.

Harley's have been nicknamed Hogs since the '20s. There was a pig named Johnny owned by one of the Harley race team. He became the unofficial mascot. There's a famous photo with him on the tank

Eric Built his own Frames and improved the British two stroke. Then racing rules were changed to allow 1,000 CC 4 strokes to race against 500 CC Two Strokes. The Two strokes of half the displacement of the 4 strokes were not competative. Eric managed to get some HD V-Twin race motors to race with in his Frames in the V-Twin class.

By 1993 Buell had serious financial problems and he made a deal with the devil. HD bought 49% of Buell with an option to buy 49% more of Buell in 10 years. 10 Years later HD bought 49% more of Buell .. It was not long after that say maybe Jan 2009 That HD Decided to shut down Buell and their Brand new manufacturing building in East Troy WI. It cost HD $116 Million to shut down Buell. HD is losing $100 Million per year presently on their electric motorcycles.

My guys, firstly "Yeah Barts back. Again.". Sub par banter exceeding 12 minutes before the topic story is even began. I, for one, can not applaud that effort fellows. But I still love's ya's, and watched the whole gd thing while sim racing. Ok well, maybe more of having a bit of sim racing between a marvelous vape session. ohh' boy. ps: the new mullet kid thats being crow barred into a donut shape void that the channel finds itself in, for the moment. He ain't it Sir. No thank You 'un's. We're good.
