Italy is a much more compact country than North America along with its municipalities. Over there the low powered three wheelers make sense, most trips are short trips at very moderate speeds with much congestion. A huge North American RV or even SUV make no sense there at all.

There is a guy who built one of the tiny teardrops with just the sleeping area inside, kitchen in the back and professionally made doors here on KZbin. They made this with insulation and plywood plus some fiberglass and paint. Under $2000--mistakes raised cost over $1400, but if you avoid mistakes?... For kitchen appliances in the rear kitchen, simple camping stuff fits nicely. You can add battery, solar panels, inverter (I could not be weaker here), electric ice chest/refrigerator, Coleman stove, sink that you fill with water you get in campground un less you can build a pump, etc--grey water can drain, no tank required, but if you have a fresh water tank--it gets to be too much work, too heavy. I have not seen anyone add heat or A/C, but the Quiet Nerd adds a simple electric heater that suffices even in snow in his cute little homemade vehicles in videos here--they are not road-worthy, but one was wonderfully lake-worthy! And he "off-roads" in the snow. Even fixes hot meals in the cold using small portable appliances and power from his inverter? (that's where I get weak, but he tracks the power used and uses a solar panel to recharge. Lets him use tech for lights and entertainment, too.). Just combine the DIY trailers with other, more creative, homemade devices... They all start with a trailer and build a wooden frame (tho some just glue the insulation together with some hardware to create the cab, attach...screws and glue...waterproof the insulation with plastic tarp material, wrap it in layers of fiberglass--the insulation takes care of itself, ie, keeps you warm. Paint at the end. Add shocks and bigger wheels, brakes maybe...and lights..to create a road-worthy. Doors have windows, put one on each side for cross ventilation. Make your own cabinets if you want--insulation is weightless but wood can be finished very pretty. Mattress to suit your taste, cover it same, pillows.... $3000 max?

People get confused here. These vehicles are based off the piaggo ape, 150 ro 250cc engine. They will do 45mph making them legal for class 2 or secondary highways. This means you can travel 100s of miles with them. In fact most of route 66 is within its speed

Unfortunately, Canada has so many regulations that with will not happen. I can't see this on a road because you would never be able to get a license for it. Can't take it on trails in Federal or Provincial Parks. I have phoned these Parks Canada places and they don 't have a clue, which means you don't buy one otherwise someone 'squaks' and you are shutdown.
