This is not a how to restore one trip batteries, this is flogging a dead horse. Getting an apparent immediate readable voltage does not mean a recharged battery. It wont have much if any ampere hours in recharged storage. Its slightly dangerous too, they may explode in your face. A one time battery works at the principle of sacrificing 2 different metals according to galvanic series (search and read) exposed to an acidic solution that corrodes the least valuable metal. Battery dies at the depletion/total corrosion of that lesser metal. But hey, I like your home made battery array. You could make some nice power packs for rechargeable batteries with those. Go shop some 18650 Li-ions or so and have some fun. Long range e-bike? Electric moped ? Solar panel power bank ? Lots of people throws away power tool batteries when they fail, usually its only a cell or two that has gone bad and there are usually many in each pack, each holding 3,6V as healthy. Both most battery power tools and most laptops uses 18650 Li-ions. There´s a good and free waste reuse supply.

Ive recharged regular batteries for decades now. Yes some batteries when recharged will burst and leak all over the enclosed charging box so i set the box upright so if that happens the acids will only leak on to the lower pad. Ive recharged several two or three times before discarding. Never had any of them explode like a bomb although that can be a possibility so the reason for the enclosed box as an additional safety. Last five years i only charge nickel-cadmium, lithium, metal-hydride types. Got lazy to clean the box when one of the older lead-acid batteries would leak.

I tried that with a certified battery charger and a few of them were expanding like they were ready to explode and cause a major fire and personal injury. This was many years ago but never tried that again. I always use certified battery chargers that only can charge "rechargeable batteries. That's why they are manufactured for those that need to reuse batteries. I do give you full credit for trying to invent a battery charger for "regular" battery types. That would be incredible if it succeeds and gets patented. Update, I saw the full video and you did succeed. Looks like this method may work, but did you use heavy duty batteries or did you use alkaline batteries. this probably works better if you crush the battery a little. Just a little. If you crush too much the battery casing will rupture I use pliers, a vice, or a door hinge, in a pinch. The interior of a battery becomes solid with use, and shrinks, drawing it away from the pin running through the middle. You can even just crush them a little to get a few extra uses out of dead batteries, as it allows the remaining electrons which are stuck in the solid interior to drain completely. After crushing, make sure to use the same device you used to make the battery round again, or it may not fit into your device

A battery charged with it will work a second time and run out more quickly. It can then recharge again and each time runs out faster. I think about 3 times is the limit. The better batteries do best with it. Very cheap batteries you only get one recharge and then they just wont . It shows a screen with how its doing, whether its viable and turns it off when its done. So, first very awesome engineering work, but like is this any different them just putting it in a ni-cd/ni-mh charger "which of course always told not too" ..2nd: yes I see the voltage increase, have tested the battery life, vs brand new? Like if this restore gains only 25% original capacity then idk ... but 4 real, amazing job on the work u put in ... . Saving $ on batteries would be great, my opinion those high $ lithium AA not worth it...
@GausDIY7 ай бұрын
How much capacity can be increased by charging depends on the current condition of the battery. It can be used for quite a long time for low-power devices such as TV remotes and wall clocks. But we also note that you must understand the techniques and problems that arise when implementing. You can only restore it once and not restore it again. I really appreciate your sincere comments. Wishing you and your family always happiness and peace!

A bit dangerous - the final voltage check is superficial the small amount of charge will mean the battery will only last nominal amount of time.

No. Just no. Charging batteries in series, especially different brands in different states of discharge, is a bad idea. As is not including a series resistor. I have a couple of taper chargers intended for alkaline rechargeables that I've used on regular alkalines with varying degrees of success. I read somewhere that regular alkaline chemistry remains reversible up to 30% discharge. This works out to about 1.34V. Just need to keep an eye on them while charging. If a cell starts to get warm or gets stuck at a voltage

This is really easy to test if he is right or wrong. 1 Take a new battery and test how long it takes to get empty with a device. 2. Take his "charged" battery and see the difference in working time. I would guess that the charged battery gonna last about 30% of the time a new battery lasts. So it might be a "temporary" solution but not a miracle one. I would rather use lithium batteries since they are cheap enough, have more power, and are truly rechargeable. Or just use a Ni--Mh rechargeable battery like Eneloops or others since they are cheap enough too.

These batteries are not checked properly (on short circuit amps). The voltage itself is not telling much about battery internal resistance (the real issue with used batteries). Plus, the new alkaline AA battery is expected to give (short time) 6A and above. No non-rechargeable battery can be restored to that current. Even rechargeable batteries charging time cannot be less than 4 hours in the high speed charger (which itself destroys rechargeable batteries).

DO NOT DO THIS. Buy the rechargeable batteries if you don't like tossing batteries away." Many batteries have a notice warning you not to recharge them. I have rechargeable batteries that are 3 years old, I have charged them at least 50 times and they still work.

Nervous Nellies: I don"t care. You may note that the alkaline batts are not as good as they were in the past--that includes the familiar and stupidly beloved mega-brands. Never had any explosion, fire, or smoke. It's too bad we can't just encase nuclear waste--then, we wouldn't need all this charging and purchasing, at this level.... Lithium: That's a different issue.....
