Clearly, despite all your extensive travels, you've never been to Sesame Street, because Rubber Ducky, he's the one! He makes bathtime lots of fun! My great grandfather saw Buffalo Bill's wild west show at the Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Steve Canyon was still in the Sunday comics when I was a kid in the 70s.

Love your videos, love your personality, love the way you enjoy life, one day at a time, even when there's bumps in the road. Started watching about a month ago and now I'm watching from the very first one, 8 years ago. I've traveled all over 48 states on road trips with my parents back in the day. Landmarks, roadside attractions, odd places...I miss that...thank you for sharing your adventures with this old timer, lol, and taking me to all the places I've been to and everything, old and new, that I missed. God Bless you, and keep you safe on your journeys, always ❤🙏🖖✌🚗❤🚝⛵✈❤

That is a great museum!!! Loved the head cutouts when walking in!! It always amuses me when you put your head on them!!! The mechanical horse is totally awesome!!! The Buffalo Bill owned items are fabulous, especially the bear bench, the walking stick, the lamp is beautiful that was given to his daughter, his actual outfit he wore, his ceramic flask, his saddle n horses bridle!!! Loved this video!!! Attaboy, Carpetbagger!!! Another winner!!!

I remember that comic strip! Steve Canyon was started shortly after WWII and continued till the death of it's creator Milton Caniff, who was also the creator of Terry and the Pirates. I didn't really read it religously but it was something I remember reading every now and then. There was even a TV show back in the late 50's about him.

Yeah, you reached my youth with this, Jacob. Hahaha, the big hat made you look like Hoss, the cool and big guy from the Ponderosa Ranch in Bonanza. Glad you mentioned Anny Oakley. She was an actual character by herself already outside and before the Buffalo Bill show. i was fortunate to have seen a re-creation of the show in Disneyland Paris (Europe of course). Anny Oakley (actor) participated and played a song by shooting at church bells in the correct sequence while riding a horse. It was a lot of fun, lots of havoc and wild action, and very impressive including actual Buffalo as well. This museum makes history truly come alive. Thank you for showing us!

This is one of the reasons I like your videos so much Jacob. You show us obscure things, we learn things, it is just a fun, visual, experience. I've now learned about Steve Canyon and will probably go look him up after I'm done watching the video. And it was really cool learning about Buffalo BIll. I used to watch a series, can't remember what it is called, but it was hosted by David Carradine and it was about the history of the west and its always been of interest to me.

Steve Canyon was a newspaper comic STRIP (not book). Milton Caniff quit his very successful strip Terry and the Pirates so that he could own and control his own work rather than working for a publisher. He was a pioneer of creator-controlled media. His work is much admired for its artistry and storytelling. Steve Canyon ran until 1988. Nice to find out about the statue!

Next time you are in Colorado stop by Georgetown and ride the Georgetown Loop which was a mining train. The Georgetown Loop was an engineering marvel built to help the train go to a higher elevation more smoothly at a safer grade to take the oar from the mine to the processing plant to separate the minerals they wanted from the rest of the oar. Halfway though the ride on the train you can even tour the mine for an extra fee.

Buffalo Bill Cody was not known as "Wild Bill", as you've referred to him as several times. Here is an excerpt from an article clearing it up for you: "William Cody came to be known as Buffalo Bill and James Butler Hickok came to be known as Wild Bill. Hickok hailed from Illinois and had traveled to Missouri and Kansas as a young man looking for adventure."

I have heard of Steve Canyon...but then again I grew up in Colorado and my brother-in-law worked at an underground mine that was near Idaho Springs, BUT I thing the Steve Canyon character later became a sort of a cartoon character on TV that was literally still photos of Steve and the other cartoon characters that were in Steve's comics but they would have the still photo but literally real human lips somehow filmed over each character's mouth doing the speaking parts in each episode of Steve's adventures.
