What I don't understand is when Ken ask Bill what does it all mean if when we die there's nothing, Bill continuously states that it's for the people in the future that we hope to pass down information or find a new energy source for them. And when Ken ask Bill when those people are dead, why does it all matters, he still just speaks of passing down information to people the future. It seems to me that if you have two brain cells you can figure out that Ken is speaking of when every and all humans are dead. Yet bill keeps responding with the same answer of people of the future and handing down information to them. I don't know if he's doing this on purpose, or if he really doesn't grasp what Ken is trying to ask him. As a scientist, bill should be really interested in the evidence of the Bible

@@jonmancill6824 With respect, I didn't see the "Why does it all matters?" as obfuscation from Nye. He answers the question, EVERY time, as to what every living being is here to do: reproduce. That's all. From amoebas to zebras. Pass along your DNA. Bill's point is that, as one of the species on this little speck of cosmic dust, if we don't get our act together, we, as one of the zillions of beings on this planet, will become extinct, leaving a world conducive to bacteria and cockroaches. As a practicing Christian and a fervent environmentalist, I preach that God created a world for ALL life. We, as humans were given stewardship over His creation. Our task...our mission, is to NOT F...FOWL it up.

Just because you've put a lot of effort into it doesn't mean that you're infallible. Ken Ham's stance is that nothing that Bill or any man can provide in the way of evidence can irrefutably prove or disprove the age of the earth. Sure, we believe in the Bible and God, but we're up front about the fact that we're unreasonable about it. Nothing in the natural world can prove an unnatural God. What Bill is claiming is that DNA can sprout from unliving matter, matter can sprout from absolutely nothing, and there can be life without God, while providing no evidence for it.

The point is that nothing matters. You can do anything without lasting consequence. Morals in a society mean nothing because the society wont exist long anyway. What is the point of living a happy life, or a sad life. What is the point of learning or going to school, or even watching this debate? It's like playing a video game for a hundred hours and then deleting the save file. What was the point of even doing it in the first place. What morals do we have against slavery or murder or causing anyone else pain, they wont ever remember it when they are dead. There are vast impacts in the ideology of nothing after we die.

If you decide to live your life because you find comfort in that there’s something after for you that’s great, however I don’t necessarily find it healthy to live and do things for the soul reason just to die. I could switch the question right back to you. What’s the point of you doing anything here if there’s something waiting for you. I understand following a moral code but why waste time doing anything else because when you go you’re life will be better. Do you see why having this argument is pointless? Again I’m not knocking your beliefs. If believing in a god makes you do the right things for you that’s fantastic. @@k1ngf3lon92 Sorry, I am not trying to belittle you or your way of life. I'm fine with you living your life your way (lawfully of course). It just doesn't make sense to me. To me, your perspective is "living just to die." To live in the moment because tomorrow will never come, the whole "eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die." The fact that I have eternity ahead of me makes me think more about how i live in the present. I am not living to die, because our bodies will be resurrected again. I am living for the future. Every action has a consequence in my life. Every good deed will benefit others not just until they die. And every bad deed will make it harder for me to achieve lasting happiness. We will all be judged at the end by our actions and intentions. and then we will be sorted accordingly, the good with the good and the bad with the bad. and then life will continue. Every piece of knowledge I gain now I know will benefit me forever. If life after death didn't exist, I have no vested interest in gaining knowledge. Besides, the teachings of Christ are desirable for any thriving civilization. Regardless of whether you believe in God, the lessons that Jesus taught can only do good for society.

We are made from things that before the beginning of this universe. We are all earthlings are body’s are built in a way to live on this planet coming from microbes on asteroids or different planets. We didn’t come from some crazy being that decided oh you lived a bad life now you live all eternity in hell. Like let’s say you live to be 100 years old. 100 out of a million is so small that it doesn’t even make a dent. So average human life span is 30-70 years and within that time you believe that the wrongs you’ve made in this such small amount of time should last you an eternity of pain. I’ve never seen Jesus pull up and save us from ours sins you see what’s going on in todays time. The amount of times a savior was needed and did not show. The amount of time people prayed for help and was not heard. Your god is all and mighty and made the earth in 6-7 days and decided to nothing after that? What he move away decided he failed off rip so start up new somewhere else. To me it sounds like your gods a quitter who doesn’t care for his people. People born with disabilities what that just a bad joke from god that that person had to live with that for the rest of their life cuz they live bad in the past or sum. We are all the same we are all alive. Religion separates brings no one together. Only people in that group/religion become closer not the outside. But when let go of all the insanity and realize we are atoms and molecules living together simultaneously is great. You have a whole ecosystem in your body living and thriving. You are your own planet. You give life to more life. If anyone was god it would be everything alive and dead. If everything is formed from the same thing that can only mean we are one we are the universe time is relative to you and your own gravitational pull. All god would be is a loop. Like going out far enough and coming back to the place you start. Life making life countless of other universes outside of the one. If you only believe in one universe because that’s all you can see even though we know it’s expanding and becoming bigger and stretching from a center point means there’s a start. If we started why couldn’t another start. In the whole scale of things in this universe that’s tragically sad we believe in a fairy tale over actual evidence and hypothesis. A book made sooo long ago we might never know the actual authors. I can make a book too shoot in todays time you could have an AI make a Bible then go around speaking this is the truth and once you have followers you have a religion. You can believe the things that are true and revolve around proof or follow an idea someone wrote down that can never be proven until Jesus or god or anyone comes down and shows us proof. If you have to base your whole thing on faith and belief with no evidence supporting your claim is outrageous. Fun fact look at where the Bible is made and you find out they take ideas from the country above and below and put them together. He say she say stuff that’s all I hear. Only people that follow the Bible are people who need a higher power to believe in. It’s like king and queen and civilians are less even though they are the exact same as you and me and want to keep the power. Sorry but religion is a scam. It only works if you believe same as Santa. It’s all fairy tail Mumbo jumbo like anyone can make it up. We see it all the time and people getting used example don’t drink the kool aid. These people cult leader killed his own people. Cult religion is the same thing it’s all belief as a group.

I'm still waiting for Bill nye to make any point. Bill believes aliens created people and DNA, but Ken believes that a creature outside our demention and our science, created people and DNA. I have read Walt Browns book. He actually shows the science, behind the hydroplate theory that is far more scientific that anything Bill nye says. My father was an environmental science and a chemist. He explained to me that man made climate change isn't based on science, but on grant renewal syndrome. That means scientists find what they are payed to find, because if they don't they don't get the next grant. There is the bases for climate change and evolution. Science is repeatable and observable. We have observed many things that disprove evolution and climate change. I have watched Bill Nye the engineer/actor for decades. He is an idiot. When you refuse to look at all sides of an issue, then you become brain washed We know historically that macro evolution was never based on science, but on racism and eugenics. We know that Darwins book,"On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life", was a best seller, because it justified racism and slavery, not because it was scientific. Heckle was called out for faking drawings. They proved in that neanderthals were fully human, they have found blood vessels that are still soft on dinosaurs bones and the dating methods that are based on circular reasoning and theory sometimes will date the same animal millions of years apart. Not to mention all the faked fossils and incomplete fossils and fossils that are several different creatures slapped together to make a whole other creature.

@@Icebearishungry Well the reason I believe Christianity over other religions is for many reasons. To start, Christianity is the most unique of all religions. Other religions state that good works and works righteousness are what get you into heaven while the Bible states that accepting God and living with him will get you into heaven. Furthermore, Christianity is the only religion that offers a personal relationship with God which is in the form of Jesus. Another thing, the events of the Bible are rooted in history. Almost all historians agree that Jesus was a real person and preached the gospel. This all happened during the tyranny of the Romans. The Romans persecuted and murdered people for even being associated with Jesus. They also would punish people for just writing or talking about the gospel. Why would the apostles go through all of the trouble and danger of writing the Bible to just lie? What benefit does that serve them.

@@prayerjoseph9776 Scientists are not making assumptions. The layers in ice cores are the result of seasonal differences affecting snowfall and how it packs into ice. These differences in the snow/ice are actually visible to your eye. Essentially, you can see when it was summer(or winter) in the ice. Summers are always 1 year apart so this gives you a very simple method of counting years in ice(This works up until a certain point) Alternatively, you can measure how much of a particular radioactive isotope is left in ice at a particular point. Since radioactive isotopes decay at a fixed rate, you can use math to figure out when these radioactive particles were deposited into the ice by fresh snow. There are many other methods too and they can all be corroborated by the presence of specific features in the ice. Black ash layers in an ice core from known volcanic eruptions, or the presence of Tritium from nuclear weapons testing, among several other things, are markers with known dates that allow scientists to check the accuracy and effectiveness of their dating methods. There are no "assumptions based on faith" here. This is real math and data collection at work.

Modern science is no less dogmatic than religion. Possibly more so. No one dare even question the dogmas of evolution or global warming, for example, lest they lose their job. Most people simply believe what the mainstream scientific narrative tells them to, absent any real critical analysis. Also, true Christianity sets you free and fosters critical reasoning. Many Christians are more knowledgeable in the secular sciences than those that attack religion. I would also note throughout history, Christianity has promoted and fostered science and in fact enabled it to prosper. Lastly, there are countless reasons to believe the Holy Bible as being true and accurate. It's not just because you're told to believe it. It's arrogance to think you know more than believers. Or that you somehow have knowledge of the origin of existence that you can rule out the theory of an intelligent designer. You prove that modern science is itself a religion.

I got the impression that Ken Ham was doubting his own arguments multiple times and just told himself, “No, I can’t- that can’t be right.” He would then continue his own argument, but with a little less confidence. But as he spoke, he would regain that confidence, only to have Bill reset his confidence level the next time he spoke. I’m a former creationist myself. I know how it feels to make these arguments, hear yourself, doubt it, shush those doubts, and press on. You rinse and repeat until you wake up and come to the realization it’s all incorrect. Then, you look back at who you were and barely recognize yourself.

Ham wants to teach young people how to think "correctly." Who is the arbiter of correct thinking? Nye wants to teach young people to think critically based on evidence so they, themselves, can evaluate it; that is how we advance technology. If we were to think "correctly," it would be based on someone's determination of "correct" thus limiting our ability to explore beyond that. Those who broke away from such "correctness" (and were historically labeled heretics and some even killed for it) created many things that have helped us to learn more, to explore more, and challenge more. That is the foundation of science.

What i love the most is that Bill is doing something many people wont do and what they dont understand. He is not denying the existence of god. He even continues to say he is skeptical in terms of god being real and create life but mever actually saying its all false. All the while the religious people are only accepting god as an answer rather than admitting, even if slightly, that they are wrong. Whether or not god exists doesnt change the fact that Bill is indisputably correct about the scientific findings we have made. I understand that these findings completely contradict many religious beliefs but what religious people need to do in this case is either find new evidence that supports their claims OR stop using the same unproven claims theyve been using and losing battles with for many years. If religion, whether right or wrong, can not continue to present supportive evidence, then relgious claims simply can not continue to argue against science. You HAVE to have supportive evidence or be dismissed. Period.

how do you prove that Columbus sailed across the sea? The only thing I could observe presently would be something written down by people from a long time ago, that's exactly what the bible is, it's full of history. so unless we revive Moses or Noah from the dead it can't exactly be peer reviewed.

@@SpeakMakeGive There are some claims that cannot be proven, but that doesn't mean that all old claims cannot be proven right or wrong. Noah ark story is debunked by scientific evidence in many levels. Maybe a dude named Noah/Moses existed, but the big flood as described in the bible make no logical sens. You can only explain it by miracle. But, with science, we can support that it contradict well known/established facts.

What are you guys talking about? What is the vocational romance that Atheists have with here miracles; why do you bring it up when you do not agree there is? You ask a question from what standpoint of given answer? What deep desire are you looking to pitch for yourself? You want to be considered nothing is the main point of your argument, so how amazing it is to think that about your miracle in that? A miracle has to happen out of that. There is no scientific or even here good scientific book to explain your existence that you all have put together and that people successfully live their lives by. What the Satanism book? Evolution book? You have no basis for truth. You all come by no claim of ever saving anyone's life thoroughly through the work of your ideas. Jesus even if he were fiction, gets a lot more praise than Charles Darwin or Aron Ra.

Nah I agree with Bill Nye but it’s definitely admirable of them to leave the video uncut and the comment section on, a lot of religious channels snip up interviews or purposefully pick who they are debating knowing they’re incompetent. Half the time I don’t even think the pastors believe what they’re preaching but Ken Ham here definitely comes across as someone who believes the word of ‘god’ and is willing to debate any man on it and I think that is commendable for sure

Silly how it's so obvious and it's thing people know, yet look at what happens when you throw God out. To make your point you are literally borrowing from the theistic view. All those people you mentioned would also have no meaning in your world view ultimately and what you are asking people is simply your opinion . No, she is trying to trip him up. He cant go through the entire science of why these things work the way they do because you need to get heavily into very difficult subjects like quantum mechanics. We can infer things based on research done by multiple people that make these things verifiably true. A good example is there is enough verifiable evidence and research done by scientist with peer reviewed research to verifiably prove the earth it round. I do not need to do my own experiment to prove it. I can reliably trust the past research that states it as so. You can do the same with many of these are more advanced concepts.

Bill Nye proclaimed that he was open minded. Ken Ham showed it. Ken Ham was willing to listen to any concrete evidence that Bill Nye had. There simply isn't any. On the other hand, Ken Ham gave Nye evidence. Lots of it. For instance, he talked about tree rings being formed at an irregular rate. Nye never answered him with a real reason why we "know" that in particular trees, certain rings absolutely must reflect one year.

@@HenrySchweitzeryou’re so blind that it’s funny. Ken was hypocritical and fallacious the entire video. He claims to know everything and his evidence for a book being correct is because the book says so. If I wrote on a piece of paper that unicorns are real does that make it fact?
