Buffalo Fordge 612 hand crank drill press restoration

Have the same post drill in my Blacksmith shop, except mine is a model 65R, so a little smaller. I use it a few times per week, for years now. A couple of tips: Your drill is moving around too much. You need to mount it securely. If I were you, I would adapt it to use a modern drill chuck. I adapted mine and it works great. When drilling large holes like that, it's better to "step up" by drilling a smaller hole first. Also, I use a drill vice in my drill press, unless the item is too large. Nice restoration!!

What was the product in the green can you were spraying and working with the wire brush? Love the restoration...I have an old press like this that has been handed down from my grandfather to my father now to me. I'm getting ready to start my restoration.

It was break clean to dissolve the grease. I had run out of krud kutter which I used normally for removing oil and grease, you can find in any big box home improvement store.
