Sadly most of these good folks who lived in Buffalo during the 30s and 40s aren't there anymore , most passed on .This video was make 30 years ago , how fast time flys ! I remember Buffalo well in the 50s , and a few memories from the 40s .

Had the priviledge of meeting Ralph Hubbell as a young kid at a recreation basketball breakfast where our team got a picture with him and was posted in the Depew Herald. I'm in tears.

I told my grandmother in the 70s that I didn't understand why anyone would go downtown. She told me that when she was dating my grandfather they would go to a supper club and then go ballroom dancing. She described it so magically that it gave me a new appreciate for both downtown and the young lovers my grandparents once were.

The baseball historian in the video has it wrong about which years Johnny Bench played for the Bisons. In the video he says it was 1955-56. Johnny Bench was Buffalo's catcher in 1967. He appeared in 98 games for the Bisons that season.

My mom always listened to wben in the am while preparing our school lunches. I remember going to war memorial stadium as a kid. One of our neighbors took my brothers and myself to the game. I was hassled for money by members of the brown tribe. I had 8 siblings and no money. It left a very bad impression on me. My mom graduated from Kensington High. They had many great achievers. Now, it is a ghetto and maybe if their lucky produce a guy who can bounce a ball better than other's.
