I also line up my ruler with an internal seam to help keep it straight. Also hang a pinky off the edge of the ruler onto the fabric.

I do the same with my pinky! Also, I was gifted the 6' table and cutting mat, but I know it's expensive, so to save the large cutting mat, I have an 18" X 24" mat that I sit on top of the large mat and I can also twirl it around after doing the trim cut. I only cut on the large mat when I'm squaring up a quilt. I just subscribed to your channel! Thanks for all your tips! ❤

Nice tips, Chris! I have my Grandma’s black cast iron pressing iron. Thank you for your idea of using it as a ruler weight!

Also for your rulers, i think its called medical tape its clear so you can still see the markings on your ruler when applied to the back to help it not slip.
