I've gotten to the Empyrean in SMT5 and I don't think I've felt overwhelmed by my opposition like this in any video game: - Abdiel and Ichiro want to uphold YHVH's order despite him being dead. - Koshimitzu/Tsukiyomi and Yuzuru want to bring Japanese's myraid gods back into power. - Khonsu, Odin, and Zeus all have their own visions for the world they want to make reality. - Lucifer wants to claim the Throne of Creation for himself to usher in a new age where chaos reigns supreme. - Shiva just wants to destroy the universe and have it be remade by Brahma. - Nuwa and Yakumo are the two I have no clue where they're at, but I have a feeling I'll be seeing them soon. And I of course have to deal with *all of them.* And to think just about an in-game week ago I was playing as an ordinary high school student.

Shiva A.I. seen to only use his most powerful move "Tendava" when there were no allies on his side, so the trick was to keep one of his allies alive.

Thanks for the advice! Took him down on hard at Lvl 88 through trial & error. The allies I kept alive for him were Ganesha/Parvati since they're the most tame in terms of moves and my Amanozako had zanbarion/high force plemora to deal with Ananta every time it spawned.

You know why Buffmaister only used -kaja spells instead of Luster Candy / Debilitate? Because the demons he used had high HP but low MP, if he were to use the said skills, he would run out of MP in 4-5 turns. That said, using demons with high MP low HP would get wiped out when Shiva uses Tandava.

I ended up using beelzebub with great mana spring and EX Boon Boost. I could get off full stacks of debilitate/luster candy, refill mana in off turns, and the rest of the time throw some attacks out. So broken 😁

@@Kazzy234 I had a lotta trouble with him even also while max level. I eventually beat him after getting certain demons and leveling them up too. The most helpful demons I used were Beelzebub, Gabriel, and Vishnu. Beelzebub had luster candy and debilitate, Gabriel was helpful with the God's Shield Magatsuhi for Shiva's Magatsuhi and she also healed and had Dekunda. Vishnu mostly used items and had Mudobarion for whenever Ananta came up before it could heal Shiva. My Nahobino just used Thalassic Calamity (yet Bufobarion or Ice Age could be better) and Profound Land for Ananta too. This team worked wonders and I beat him this way! Basically, you want someone buffing, someone healing, someone damaging, and someone who can kinda just do anything but mostly restoring MP with items!

Beelzebub had ice age and debilitate, vishnu had mudobarion for ananta, luster candy and mediaharan and gabriel was important for that high ice damage, the magatsuhi skill(i didnt end up using tho lol) and dekunda. I got amon as a back up with luster candy and debilitate. His resistance was a big help. Another back up for worst case was lakshmi with her own mediaharan and luster candy and the magatsuhi skill that revives and heals the whole stock Also cover weaknesses with either drain or block skills Also raising their potential for ice skill to +9 for more damage worked wonders as well. Just use up all possible boosters you got for your main party before going in!

Observe their pattern, you see that Bosses are scripted. You will have to nuke down Ananta tho to avoid him triggering a Mediarama on his 2nd turn.

If you have a shitton of soma, bead chains, or a thick stack of healer demons, you can outlast his tandavas and grind him down by constantly blasting everyone as soon as he spawns them. Also Shiva isnt harmless just bc hes not using Tandava. He will start going for TPKs more frequently when other npcs are on the field, and unlike Tandava, demons WILL die without a magatsuhi skill covering you. On the flip side, an exploit i considered but didnt try out is leveraging the fact Shiva's allies take their press turns first and only use party attack skills, so as long as at least one of your demons can repel or drain the attack you stand a good chance of cancelling Shiva's outright.

@@Nonaggress That's what I did to beat him at level 87. Killed every ally except for Parvati, and she kept using Mahamaon on my team, wasting turns because everyone was either resistant or immune. Also used Baal's Essence on Nahobino to gain his resistances, allowing Nahobino to resist and repel Shiva's fire and electric attacks respectively. The hardest thing was to keep track of Ananta when Parvati summoned it.

Judging from the context, he means that anyone who recreates earth will become corrupted over time because they put their focus on mortal and God affairs on earth which would make the recreator wish to keep the good faith of humanity whilst keeping the other demons under control. But as brahman will recreate the universe he will not put his focus on earth and as such not become corrupted by desire and control, as he is "too needed" everywhere else to dedicate his time to earth and its demon occupants. This game really encourages you to use demons for long time use similar to Nocturne, it hands out Grimores like crazy even without the Mitama DLC. King Frost, Anahita, Chironupu, Alice, Black Frost, Belpagor, Idunn, Yoshitsune and the Fiends are great well beyond their fusion level for example.

In a way, I hated/loved fighting him. Hated because I died 10 times (2 where I almost beat him. Loved because I managed to get the true ending without even realizing I had to beat him for it. Usually, I Just play a game the way I like to at first and get whatever ending I get from it, then I look up on KZbin for the best endings. Personally, getting it in one play through was a breath of fresh air for me.

@@mothman5025 Hello, I am level 97, now with a 100 vitality and like 130 strenght. A few days ago I started to have the “endure” skill so I can use the Adversity Magatsuhi skill and hit him harder. That way, I buff myself and use critical aura and debuff him in the first turn, let him leave me at 1 point of HP and the using said magatsuhi skill to deal like 30 000 - 40 000 damage in a single turn. But after that, I struggle until I get killed. I also tried to use “Shield of god” with Metatron and Gabriel, but then he kept using Megidolaon every other turn before I could refill the Magatsuhi bar and decided to change to “Magatsuhi: Adversity” strategy. Also I block physical and resist everything except dark and I am considering replacing “murderous glee” for block fire.

@@mothman5025 By the way, I managed to defeat him last week. I kept buffing my Nahobino’s attack, buffing my whole team’s defense and debuffing both his atack and defense. Then I kept using critical aura and attacking him and all demons not called Genesha and Parvati until Shiva’s health was at half while also using Metatron’s Magatsuhi skill “Shield of God” to protect my team from the enemy’s attacks. I also took a page from this video and got a strong Thor and a strong Siegfried to absorb elec and physical attacks respectively and make the enemy lose turns. Once Shiva was at a bit less than half health, I swithed Cerberus into my team (I don’t remembre for who) to use “Omagatoki: Adversity” to take the rest of his health. After that, the rest of the game was easy.

I mean, since my vitality was around 110, I could take hits very well, but I also couldn’t do as much damage as I could have if I had 160 strenght and 70 vitality. If I did, then maybe the “Adversity” strategy that I tried at first could have worked better and even defeat him at the second turn.

@@spongbobsquarepants3922 just finished a strength build on my first run. I'd say both are about equal. With strength my strategy for this fight was kinda just charge plus freikugal. Strength isn't as op here as it is in nocturne. Strength is consistently good for the early and late game but kinda struggles middle and magic is very inconsistent but overall the stronger choice if you have a build to exploit the current enemy you are fighting

@@spongbobsquarepants3922 the most important thing for me in this fight was a good healer, I kept using the coffin one and got destroyed. Afterwards I fused demeter, used her unique skill plus luster candy and then gave her null elemental and enduring skills. I also fused the nature goddess from the neutral route as a backup healer. My other members were sandalphon for concentrate and almighty, Odin with his massive physical pierce damage and my protag with freikugal. All were level 93, only lost demeter. Make sure you have at least one party member for each of shivas skills that nulls that element and make everyone null phys. Also dispel stones for the defense.

Again, Hindu cosmology is a bit different from most other religious traditions, so if you upscale Him, you get an omnipotent and omnipresent being that creates, destroys, preserves, exists in, and exists without. The living will? from Last Bible, or Stephen are probably closest in actual power to mythological Shiva, with the former being the most upscaled version and the latter the weakest canon depiction.

Use up your Gospels so you can get to 95 and make Beelzebub and Metatron to make your life easier. If you already used them all up and did all the sidequests, probably the rooms with all the Madas in the final dungeon is my guess
