I don't understand all the beef people have with Clear Ballistics gel blocks. I tested a 225gr ELD-M in 300WM for someone before they went on a Mule Deer hunt recently, and the bullet literally performed identically in both the gel and the animal.
@donwyoming193613 күн бұрын
While many insist the two gels perform exactly the same, it appears bullets expand more in the natural FBI gel than in the synthetic clear gel. In many tests where bullets don't expand in the clear gel, they do expand in the natural gel. Ammo manufacturers will tend to use the FBI natural gel when designing & testing bullets.

At a high level unless you spend a LOT of money most of what I can afford are "Residential Security Containers". Typically if a skilled thief wanted into one, they're going to get in. I've handled and used Liberty, Winchester, Cannon, Browning, and they all seem to be functionally identical in terms of storing guns. The number they say they will hold is a lie, especially when adding optics to guns. Liberty, I think, at times lags behind internal space efficiency and design, but nothing some carpentry work can't fix. Like everything they've gone up in cost, and I would advocate if you're looking at one, save up a little more and if you can fit it, buy the next size bigger. And of course bolt it down to the floor if possible, as that helps increase it's resistance from prying attacks.

Ive used acs, duramag and elander in my 6arc, and duramag is by far the best. You actualy lose .010/.020" coal with the elander because they use a heavier gauge steel. Doesnt matter alot for factory ammo but it can if youre handloading for max accuracy and velocity.

Im into the 6 arc pretty deep at this point, but this makes a grendel upper pretty tempting. Maybe they will start making the 6 and 22 now that they are set up for the x39 case. Thoughts on the .338arc?
@BuffRANGE12 күн бұрын
the 338 ARC has a much slower twist rate over the 8.6 BLK allowing it to run typical construction bullets without spinning the jackets apart if you go supersonic. It does have OAL constraints because of fitting in AR15 mags vs AR10. I'd be curious what the heaviest copper sub it can run. If you already have 8.6 BLK probably not worth it, but if you wanted to dabble in AR15 pattern compatible cartridge probably ok
@Bojangles612 күн бұрын
@BuffRANGE the 8.6 is a great performer, no doubt, but its a chonk. I dont see that it offers enough advantage in ss loads to justify having to tote an ar10. As soon as the 8.6 dropped, i had to scratch my head, considering that the .338 whisper was invented going on 40 years ago. Have a good un, keep up the good work!
