Mikey, I'm sorry that there's a handful of people who have such a harsh reaction to Mike's honesty that they feel compelled to stick around and say disparaging things in the comments. I hope you realize it's only a small proportion of your viewers who do this. It may seem like more, because the negative voices are always the loudest. Sometimes I'm a bit disappointed when a comedic bit or a line I like doesn't hit him very well, but most of the time I enjoy his reactions. Either way, there's no excuse for the level of rudeness and personal attacks in the comments. I hope Mike's not reading most of them, because the last thing I (and presumably most of your viewers) want is for you to lose yet another reaction buddy for this series.

When I watch reactions to this episode, I sometimes see comments about how Jonathan SA'ed the Swedish twins! When I watched this episode for the first time, I just assumed the Swedish girls were figments of Jonathan's imagination (come to life in this alternative reality he created) and didn't really exist.

tbh I enjoyed the contrast of Mikey laughing his way through the episode and Mike finding it frustrating to watch 😂

Oh Mike! This is a stellar episode. It subverts expectations but it also moves the plot forward. And Jonathan a character we’ve known forever deserved the shine. And this episode does get a few mentions going forward which is brilliant. Xander did a love spell in season 2 it wasn’t an alternate reality it was a magic spell.

@@paul4000 Of course! But after more than three seasons and hardly any positive opinion from him, always acting like a know-it-all, he might be better off reacting to a show he really likes. He just doesn't get the show, he's "better than that", at least he thinks he is and it makes me wanna unsubscribe, even though I like Mikey and wanna support his channel. Really enjoyed watching the first three seasons with Mikey and Joe, but Mike's attitude has gotten worse and worse. Maybe Joe brought a balance that's gone now and Mike is filling the void with bad vibes, screaming woke arrogance to me...
@AquaVersusКүн бұрын
@@GJS2183 wow...if that's your opinion then I wonder which YT channel you're watching. I've also been watching their Buffy reactions from the beginning, I don't think he acts like that at all, he seems to enjoy Buffy (maybe not as much as Mikey does or Joe did) and also Angel. I don't see any overtly negative reactions from Mike here. He laughed at the episode's jokes, he got what was happening by the end, he was just expressing his opinion in the moment because Superstar is absolutely one of Buffy's "gimmick" episodes and they won't all land for everyone. I adore Buffy and Angel, have been watching for decades, and even I rarely visit Superstar. I think his reactions are perfectly fine; in fact, I'm usually watching for Mike's reactions, because I already know Mikey is gonna love it all lol (but I like watching him too!). But...."woke arrogance"? Really? Let's please chill, this is a divisive episode and season 4 is kind of a divisive season in the fandom. Let's cut him some slack. It's not like he spends every episode grumbling about how much he hates it. Mike seems to be enjoying the show in his own way -- maybe you just don't get his humor.

Superstar was a strange episode that a lot of fans loved and some really disliked it. Personally I loved it, Johnathan being the central character was an unusual concept, harping back to Earshot when he felt so useless and unwanted he was going to commit suicide. Here we see him as a James Bond type hero who can basically do anything and is universally loved. Even at the end when he talks to Buffy once reality is restored Buffy once again doesn't judge him but as in Earshot offers her help and support showing who the true hero and Superstar is.

Makes sense. In the middle of a very serious season, a wacky episode is introduced No lead up. No information why, just thrown at you. Buffy felt dumbed down initially, which I didn't enjoy. I know Mike had a hard time at first too, and makes it known, because it feels like serious things were happening and they're non important now. As it goes on, he gets more into it. I, Mikey, however am all for these episodes. I loved the sillyness but can see why some wouldn't. Also wow I didn't even think, but our girl Buffy is is the real super star

Xander had Amy perform a love spell (he didn't create an alternate universe with this spell) and afterwards people remembered. Buffy, for example, thanked Xander for not taking advantage of her when she was coming on so strong to him (remember her outfit of black sheer stockings with only a black jacket on to cover her?) while she was under the influence of the love spell.

A sure way to poison the well of enjoyment while watching is to question everything that happens, as if the writers have broken some inviolable rule. Welcome the mischief (in this case, writer Jane Espenson) and enjoy the unfolding of a mystery. Seemingly non-canonical characters and situations are peppered throughout this series, but the purpose is eventually revealed. This series offers up all kids of wacky situations, so just sit back and enjoy the fun instead of pushing back. Basically, you're over-thinking it.

6:46 What, you mean Jonathan could ever discharge accidentally? They called Danny Strong in before starting to shoot this episode, to make all those photographs and posters. They didn't tell him what the episode is going to be about. I think Sunnydale volcano MIGHT be a bit too much. Remember, they were kinda looking for a volcano in S3 to defeat the Mayor.

Really enjoy this episode. It may not be top ten or twenty for me but I think it is very clever and very funny. If done well (like here), I personally enjoy the mystery & confusion of being dropped into a story at say the mid-point and then having it slowly explained. I love that this show dares to be original and takes chances. This episode also doesn't completely come out of nowhere given the show's prior handling of Jonathan. While I think that the overarching story for season 4 is not the show's strongest, this season has some of the best individual episodes.

Also, I did not know but he did the screenplay for The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 as well as The Butler (2013). He will turn 50 this year.

Believe it or not, this is NOT a filler episode. Like it may appear at first glance. No spoilers, but you were just given some MAJOR information. BTW, I thought it would have been funnier if it was Riley instead of Buffy who said "Jonathan" at the end.

@not-that-ChrisКүн бұрын
telling people that there is "MAJOR information" in an episode can be considered a spoiler because it invites the person to comb through it to try to find out a clue for the future. a person watching this show when it was first aired would not be able to do that because they wouldn't be told that there is major information.

1) How to rationalize magic systems like this. “Magic always has a price. Always.” 2) Love this episode. Easy top ten. Also this is the episode that convinced me Adam is the deadliest for they’ve faced (so far) as he was immune to this powerful spell that no one else was.

Mike is a precious personality and I will defend him at all costs. He is half of why I watch! (Mikey being the other half….formerly split evenly between 3 with Joe). No idea what some of you guys are on about. Maybe you don’t get his humor or personality but he clearly likes the show and laughs at the jokes, not every episode is gonna land, I find his nitpicking endearing. It is fun to watch someone not used to Buffy watch it for the first time. Him not reacting the way you would does not mean he is arrogant or ignorant or whatever…. WE LOVE YOU MIKE

@kypangoyi55012 сағат бұрын
Mike is trying so hard to hate everything. It must be exhausting! Each reaction is “I hate this” . In this case within literally 2 minutes of the start of the episode. Then he makes a lot of assumptions (usually wrong) and never acknowledges when the show proves him wrong. And the constant pointless nitpicking. A reactor doesn’t have to like everything that he watches but in this case what transpires is his disdain for the show and he is trying every time to find reasons to justify his attitude. If it wasn’t for Mikey I would have quit watching a long time ago.
