The first half of this episode was strongly inspired by the movies The Stepfather (1987) and The Stepfather II (1989). Two horror movies that kinda went under the radars, but I remember the second one for being the first horror movie I ever saw with a totally human killer, with not a slightest element of paranormal, in a period dominated by undead/unkillable figures, dolls, leprechauns, aliens, or man eating animals.

It was 1977-1984. He was brilliant on that show. Such a good physical comedian.

Again we see the show with a mirror on social comment. The situation with Ted where on the face of he seems nice as pie, but is very dark and evil, but worms his way into all Buffy's friends with Buffy becoming marginalised. Many children resent a new partner being introduced into their lives when a divorced parent starts dating, and sometimes with good cause, as many exploit and abuse their position regarding a child that is not theirs. This show never shyed away from taking on such themes. Great satisfaction when Buffy finally sees to Ted. BTW always enjoyable watching younger people reacting to this and not getting the pop-culture references. The Captain and Tenille were an American husband and wife duo who were massive in the 70's and had a string of pop hits.

I really like the more serious consequences of killing Ted the way Buffy did. Overall, really enjoy the themes of this episode. I just...wish Ted wasn't a robot lmao
