@@732ReviewCrew if interested, most of the 50s-60s episodes of What’s My Line are on youtube. They would play 2-3 games of guessing a guest’s profession (usually extremely unusual and often funny) and the last game would be the blindfolded panel guessing the identity of a celebrity: actor, singer, sport star, politician, etc. watching is often like a living history book, as just some include: Eleanore Roosevelt, Marion Anderson, artist Salvador Dali (hilarious), architect Frank Lloyd Wright, publisher Hugh Hefner, and almost everyone else under the son. The 3 main panelists were sassy actress Arlene Francis, prim columnist Dorothy Kilgallen, and wacky publisher of Random House. Dorothy Kilgallen alone can send you down a rabbit hole, as in 65 she promised in a column to reveal everything about the 63 JFK assassination in her next column, but died mysteriously right after that.

ISTR that in a season one episode when the gang is researching Spike they say that Drusilla was killed by a mob in Prague. Evidently she survived but sustained enough damage that her vampire healing powers aren't enough to restore her. Spike said he brought her to the Hellmouth hoping it would give her some extra energy and now he's trying to find a ritual that will completely restore her.

i ice skated when i was younger, i lived in France in my younger years and there was an ice skating ring/ arcade/ food place that we knew near a food market that we went to a few times. But was many years ago now. The Order of Taraka are honestly kind of fascinating because i feel like they could have been brought up again at some point in either Buffy or Angel but well they weren't. But it's a terrfying thought that they literally hve no end...kill one and another comes...until the bounty is collected they keep coming...no matter what. The Order of Taraka aren't human...well they don't count as human.
@Buffy8Fan5 ай бұрын
Dusilla may be weak, unwell, and unable to hunt, as Spike says in this episode, and has said in previous episodes (I don't think they ever say she is dying from all this, though), but despite that, and despite being crazy, she's still smart emough to know that if she plays said weaknesses up, Spike will jump to attention, even after being rude to her. How does Mikey know one way or the other if Drusilla still has her personality when he hasn't seen what she was like as a human? Buffy: "Does rest in peace have no sanctity to you people? Oh. I forgot. You're not a people (goes home and has a romantic moment with one of those "not a people")." I feel like that's just another layer to showing a high school love to a relationship she tries to tell herself is more. And that's the real key to it. Don't turn your brain off to the problems of the age difference or that Buffy is underage. Acknowledge that the characters are in denial over it. Joe is also a little right about the idea of period piece. Before _Twilight,_ all relationship with red flags of any kind in them people saw as great if shows and movies and books, etc. portrayed them that way. _Twilight's_ real great contribution to society is opening people's eyes to just how bad some of them were. The difference here is that Buffy just isn't acknowledging the problems, even as she knows they are there. That's denial over the red flags, more than just trying to present red flag relationships as a good thing. Buffy realizing she didn't need to come in the wndow because her mom wasn't home was what the entire scene was based around because the writer didn't want to give up the joke of surprising Angel while he was holding Mr. Gordo, but knew Buffy's mom was out of town. Angel lurks. Another word for stalks. If it was a member of the group telling him that, they could have just told him. To me, this shows Buffy isn't the only one he keeps an eye on without their knowledge aka isn't the only one he stalks without their knowledge. It's been debated since the episode's original airing, on whether or not (the first Order of Taraka member who tried to kill Buffy at the ice rink) Octarus is human or demon. The Buffy wiki says demon, but doesn't really give a reason why he is or isn't either. Whichever way, Buffy was self-defending. There is a line Giles says in this episode that I think should play heavily into any theory people have about how soullessness works in the series, but I've never seen brought up in debates (even I forget about it when debating). Giles: "Unlike vampires they have no earthly desires." Take into accound how soulless creatures have desires if they are soulless. Do they just know they have these desires bcause the human memories of the former human they are in is telling them, or does the demon desire it. I personally think the first one because I think all vampiric demons are horrible monsters shaped by the human they once were, but not actually that person and still soulless. But I've seen other people have different theories. Willow isn't going anywhere. The whole experience was career week. It was a larger equivelant to picking up brochures for colleges at college fairs, except this was for carreers. This two-parter was originally only one episode until they realized they had too much story for a single one. Those longer episodes of the last two seasons of GoT could take some lessons. Don't extend episodes unless the story naturally calls for it. Joe, the intro has been saying "she *alone* will..." blah, blah, blah... (don't want to repeat it anymore than Buffy wanted Giles to say it). Yeah, up until this episode the group is the Slayerettes, but off the top off most fans heads, it's hard to recall which episode they start becoming The Scooby Gang. This episode seems to be correct, if Mikey is right. Joe is right. Seth Green played Patrick Wisely in the second "live action" Scooby Doo movie, _Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed,_ alongside "Buffy" and her real-life husband.

Having a soul or not does not determine desires. Evil can covet/ desire something for self gratification. One of the underlying themes is the Western culture view of morality, what is redemption, and the fine difference between self love and prideful selfishness. The way we view the concepts of desire, needs, service, justice, and emotional needs is the basis of many philosophical theories and BTVS. Any intellectual thesis needs agreed upon starting points and a conclusion. Vampires, demons, and human villains need to be identified to contrast to Buffy . The journey to womanhood only can be achieved with lessons, hard truths. There will be many times that gray areas or what appears uncertain will occur to add depth to life and life lessons.Without desire for objects that are pursued there can not be questions. The questions are what controls the thoughts and the fight for resolution is the process. One way to view and understand many episodes and themes is to keep in mind the great final scene in Lie To Me. The truths of the world is brutal and denial is mentally safe but destructive. Desire is often a destructive emotion that uncontrolled will be dark/evil. Darkness and evil is the wheelhouse for Vampires and Demons so they will have desires.
@Buffy8Fan5 ай бұрын
@@williambowman2326 I wasn't talking about it determining desires. I was stating how people can have desires without feeling something in reguard to how they feel without souls. What emotion do they feel for those desires if they're soulless and do or do not feel? It all plays into every theory beause desires come from emotion, so how a person sees emotion work in soulless creatures ties into Giles' quote. I wasn't trying to support any theory of my own (although I did stated what mine was for an example). I was stating his quote stood by anyone's theory, depending on what their theory is and how his quote would be interpreted into their theory.

I still insist that it's not the age gap that makes a relationship toxic and cringeworthy; it's the power balance. Angel is much older than Buffy, but in their relationship they seem pretty much equal, maybe with Buffy even having a little more power (within limits). For contrast, it's not the age gap that makes Edward/Bella relationship eww-inspiring, it's her being an extreme doormat, combined with really poor writing.

Buffy was correct to reject a career in law enforcement. Think about it. She does 8+ hours a day as the Slayer (a kind of law enforcement) and then goes and does another 8+ hours a day as a LEO. She would have no ability to decompress from either job. Also, as a Slayer, she uses extreme violence is expected. As a LEO, if she brought that in, she would be one of the most hated and feared cops, not by criminals, but by the community at large. How could she not bring her Slayer violence into her law enforcement duties? It is best if the Slayer stays far far away from Law Enforcement.
