Kristine Sutherland was living in Italy with her husband for a year, so she only makes occasional appearances this season.
@Talisguy3 ай бұрын
"I wanna know where Kristine Sutherland is!" Well, for most of the season, Italy. That's why we haven't seen her in ages. She spent several months living in Italy when the season was being filmed, so appearing for a scene or two at regular intervals would've meant a whole bunch of transatlantic flights. To save on hassle and money, Joyce just hasn't been in the show for the past few months.

The Mayor truly loved Faith as a daughter. His Ascension was his top priority since founding the town of Sunnydale, yet the night Faith went missing (after her fight with Buffy), the Mayor made finding Faith his _top_ priority and even made a video for her in the event she would wake up without him. Without the Mayor in control of the police, there would indeed be no way to keep her above the law like he initially did, so him telling her the reality, and then providing her with a means of escaping it to live a life without pursuit of the police with magic really shows how much that girl meant to him. He loved her from beyond the grave.

Im glad there is someone who loves Spike as much as me, even when he is evil. Lol Also, ive had the pleasureof meeting the actress that plays Joyce twice. I sell antiques and she has come over and bought 2 items from me. First time i knew she looked familar and couldnt place where, so I started asking and she just said "Im Buffys mom". Still took me a few to put it together that she was referring to the show and not the person I know whose name is actually Buffy lol. She is a very nice person. Yes they did mention a sister in the beginning

I LOVE the set-up for the reveal at the end. The show makes a point to remind you about 5 by 5 being A Thing™ that Faith says. It highlights it very organically in the episode, especially with the little comedy bit between Tara and Willow. Makes it stick in your mind so that when "Buffy" says it at the end of the episode you know *immediately* what's happened. That is just... 💋 perfect story telling.

5x5 is an air force thing. It's how the pilots in the US air force communicate that everything sounds good. It's kind of like the word ok came from the US fireman. It baffles me how faith has been using this for so long and all it takes is a Google search for you to find out and yet you still don't know it
@ernesthakey33962 ай бұрын
Not just the air force, but telecommunications in general - first came into use in the late 1940s for radio communications. I believe you're right that it originated in the air force, but it is also used by ham radio operators. Yeah, it is amazing to me that people have questions but don't just go find out the answers. I used to use the Encyclopedia Britannica as a kid for that; Google is way easier.

5x5 is a term for radio communication. Basing on a subjective impression on a 1 to 5 scale both, signal quality in loundness and clearness is 'measured'. If it's loud and clear, it's five by five. So saying it means "everything is alright" or "works perfect". Faith's 5x5 just means everything is ok.

In Faith's dream, from her perspective, Buffy is the villain. I think Buffy herself does feel guilt for stabbing her, but it had to be done. With Faith it seems like she wants to be with Buffy and other times she wants to be her. There's jealousy, sisterhood, but their chemistry also hints at a little more. In the episode bad girls, had things not gone wrong and escalated, I could actually see them dating briefly and the story still unfolding like this, if the network allowed it.
@arc73752 ай бұрын
Eliza Dushku indeed confirmed that she played Faith as having an immense attraction to Buffy.
@user-dx2dm8oq8g2 ай бұрын
@@arc7375 Yeah to me it looked like Faith was crushing hard, trying to impress her, dropping big hints testing the waters and Buffy might have been bi-curious. If things didn't escalate and Buffy made a move, Faith would definitely go for it. She seemed to use men for sex, but was emotionally into Buffy, constantly asking about her sex life and love life. I also believe that Faith couldn't kill Buffy even if she made threats, the mayor knew it and had to push Faith to go after Angel to get them to a point of no return.

I'm always amused by Buffy coming through Joyce's bedroom window, on the second floor. 🙂 "Who are these people?" Do we forget that there's a thing called the Watcher's Council, which is allegedly in charge of the Slayer(s)? I wonder who in the world that woman could have called when Faith woke up? And then people who know Giles show up? Who could they possibly be?!? 🤣

I love that there are so many reaction video's for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Haven't binged that series for a long while, might be time for doing that again though, someday. Probably not going to watch many of all the reaction video's, there's just too many of them. Few exceptions to that, of course, most people commenting here can guess which episodes ;-) Oh, by the way, "Five by five" is a term used by radio operators to rate their signal, 5x5 is "loud and clear". Obviously Faith misuses the term. It does sound cool though.

The start where they are making the bed and Faith says 'Little Sis Coming' it will all make sense just be patient. Foreshadowing overload here! Even though I think S4 was not the best of Seasons overall, the stand out episodes and the comedy moments and one liners reached new levels. Faith's awakening dream scene a homage to 'Tim Robbins in Shawshank Redemption. Great writing again here. Soulless Spike still doing the best comedy ever. Great to see The Mayor in the video, a terrific ending to this episode setting up another great episode to follow. Very much a two parter with the even better next episode Who Are You.

It was always so wrong to me, Xander talking about his history with Faith, like she didn't attempt to sexually assault him and almost choke him to death!? Didn't like that they made light of that tbh.
@user-dx2dm8oq8g3 ай бұрын
I think he kept it to himself, it might have traumatized him which explains why he's freaking out and he's armed. Angel might be the only one who knows what really happened and he might have told Buffy. Xander might have not shared all the details possibly of embarrassment and only said that she went homicidal on him for another reason.

The show was sadly made at a time where any slight made on a woman was deemed abhorrent, yet sexual violence for men was played off as a joke. It’s tragic and frustrating. As much as I don’t like Xander as a character, he’s been repeatedly sexually assaulted, and it’s played for laughs.
