That had to be extremely hard for him to do. Dredging up the past, especially a horrible mistake, to try and reestablish trust is difficult. You don't know if the other person will understand or be driven away. We've all been there. Buffy had every right to know, and every right to toss him out of the house. He's lucky that she chose to trust the man he was in that moment as opposed to the monster that he had been. It was the pain and shame in his voice as he laid it all out that won her over.

You can tell how much it hurts Angel talking about his past. Especially Drusilla. That, and what he did to the Holtz family, were among the worst things he did as Angelus. I can understand why he didn’t tell Buffy about that part of his life. It brings him nothing but regret and pain and disgust and self-loathing remembering all the awful things he did. And now that he just started this new and happy relationship with Buffy, it’s new and exciting and it’s impossible to figure out how to even discuss the subject of his past.

@@whitedragoness23 Sorry it's taken so long to reply, KZbin doesn't always notify me about responses, I only find out about some of them when I get the mood to look back thru my history. I wouldn't call anything Angel did as a human "horrible", Liam was a shiftless lay-about, a gambler, and a player, he chased women and got into drunken fights and that was about it, if he hadn't met Darla chances are he would've died young, either stabbed after crossing the wrong man or contracting syphilis or something like that after crossing the wrong woman

Some lies are necessary, as Angel said. Buffy and Angel had just started dating. It was hardly the time for him to bring up that he used to be a monster who was so cruel and vicious that he actually scared other monsters.

You COULDN'T be more WRONG. #spoiler# Yes spuffy got together in the comics but they split up because Buffy said they didn't work unless there was conflict happening in their lives and I believe spike agreed. So Buffy ended up with neither of them.
