Buford Dam TROUT Fishing Plus Safety tips!!!

I visit Buford dam for the first time in awhile to test outlaw fishing techniques for trout as well as give safety tips on fishing in the dam

I have fished the river below Buford Dam for many years and the rocks in the river are like walking on rocks slathered with petroleum jelly! I used waders with felt-soled boots which help a lot but it can still be very dangerous if one is not careful. A piece of advice to you is to use a webbed belt about 4 or 5 inches below the top of your waders to keep it snug to your chest. If you find yourself in deep water with water-filled waders you could easily drown. There have been many unfortunate fishermen that have died because they did not take this precaution. Regarding the mist, in the summertime due to the fact that the air is so warm and humid and makes contact with the cold water from the bottom of Lake Lanier which is around 50 degrees F. which results in the mist. It usually burns off by about 10 AM.

Thanks for sharing your general area. I've had trouble finding trout water. I've only really fished for trout in the last 14 months so it's really special to me. Also those sirens are spooky. I need to know the trials get to if they start producing power.

No problem there is a website that will tell you release times but they aren’t completely accurate but they give a good reference just search Buford dam release times

I caught a big trout on the chattahoochee and the guy downstream from us in the middle of the river and caught a 22 inch brown and tons of rainbows
