A blast from the past! Nice bow - simplicity and packable. I'd like to get this but I doubt I will ever have a need for it - I already have a compound bow... and many firearm choices... OK back to the future.

Swift. Silent. Deadly. That would work well in an urban emergency/shft situation, no report. Thanks for sharing, Teufel Hunden.

Great video. I hunt with a similar bow, the Sammick Sage. Bagged a buck with it last season. I think traditional bow hunting is more fun because it's harder. Clubs nowadays roll out with enough stuff to invade a small country. Taking one down with a stick & a string is doing something!

now i intrigued. not many offer for us lefties in take downs and for normal price. Would love to get my hands on ATMOS, but price is on par with good compound...

@@ApocGuy I've had the Same for about 5 years now. 30 lbs just for target practice. Having the lefty riser is great! Plus swapping limbs for right handed people is easy. Definitely look into it!

tnx, will test in next time I'll visit local archery store. Another good (albeit total basic) folder bow is SAS survival tactical bow. great for short range shooting, and they offer take down arrows too. still, nothing beats classy traditional bow .

Also the limb screws are knobs that are tightened and loosened by hand. No extra tools to carry to assemble and disassemble 👍

How’s the heat out there? That bow looks pretty good. Definitely like the breakdown of it. In a bugout situation I went with a 12 gauge. Lil heavy but different types of shells for different situations. I like the stealth factor of the bow though.

Ideal tool for the job. However in a quick response situation I can’t help thinking screwing it together that your target would either kill you or run away.

Great video , just a quick tip if you plan on completely removing the string don't forget to pack a bow square . To properly tune a bow your going to have to add some twist in the string . That's where a bow square comes into play .

That's a decent price for a takedown bow and it seems to be good quality. I reckon I'd choose my silenced Ruger 10/22 takedown over a bow an day though. On the face of it a bow would be a great choice for the many people in the UK who have trouble getting a firearm certificate but bow hunting is illegal here so it would have to be done well away from any snitches who would report it. In a bug out situation we will just have to resort to throwing stones at rabbits if we want a meal.......

Pondguru well if you need to bugout for an extended amount of time bullets are going to run out, arrows won’t
@pondguru
@pondguru 6 жыл бұрын
Yup, that's a fair point but arrows break and are lost quite easily....although you can make new ones there are heightened accuracy issues with DIY arrows. Any sort of long term scenario will only have a finite supply of bullets but since .22 are by far the most popular in the UK (and US too?) so many houses will have fresh stock of them. Of course there may also be people holed up there so personally I'd rely on traps and snares for gathering most of the larger food, saving the bullets for days when the traps are empty and stay well away from civilization. I reckon if bow hunting wasn't illegal I'd get one of those take down bows as they look great - way better than the ridiculously complicated (and heavy) compound bow I have. I know if I was relying on that thing the string would snap and that would be it ruined. One thing for sure I'd take a bow over a slingshot any day as the accuracy of a slingshot goes to hell once the perfectly round steel balls run out and it's pebble time. Knowledge of animal behavior and trapping is by far the best tool for food gathering as it takes up no space, can be carried anywhere and is silent - marry that with some decent tools (e.g. bow or silenced small caliber rifle) and you've got the bases covered.
@zBMatt

Pondguru you can make more arrows in the wilderness within a few hours. You can’t make more bullets, and unless you kill somebody you won’t be restocking either.
@pondguru
@pondguru 6 жыл бұрын
See above with reference to arrow / bow limitation notes. With any sort of 'weapon' there will be issues with breakdowns and a bow is no different. Unless you have loads of spare bow strings the accuracy will suffer even more with a DIY string or a DIY bow unless of course you have really good knowledge of bow and arrow manufacture - that is a skill set which is fairly lacking in my own practical skills library. Long term we would all resort to trapping and foraging - that knowledge will ultimately be way more important than what we projectile firing tool we use in the short to medium term.
@zBMatt
@zBMatt 6 жыл бұрын
Pondguru this is true in my opinion people should just know how to harden a spear tip point as well as bow and arrow making, since after everybody’s ferro rods are done you can make a fire with a bow drill.

@stolasgoetia93

The biggest advantage a bow has over a gun is that it's nearly totally silent but the clear disadvantage is that you have to "reload" for every shot (unlike with a gun) and its not as fast as a bullet.

Makes me cringe stringing a bow on your leg like that. If it’s warm out you can permanently twist and damage the limbs. A piece of paracord can be made into a good stringer in a pinch. Recurves are all I shoot specifically my homemade ones. They are a lot of fun. Hope you have a blast shooting. It gets addictive so be careful. 😉
