This is an update video about our bug out truck, camper, boat and four wheeler. It's not a very big fleet, but it's our fleet :P We're trying to get prepared for bugging out if the shtf, but we hope we never have to. Our bug out vehicles are a lot of fun to take camping.

So, it 3/28 and I'm stuck at home because of the CV19. I've got an old Ford Ranger I've started fixing up just like you two. I watched the full set of videos and really enjoyed them. I also learned a lot about the order or repairs I should take and about the weight of the wood for my flatbed. Anyway, thanks for posting your process.

Thanks for watching! Are you going to upload video of your Ford Ranger as you fix it up? I think a lot of people would watch it.

Just a heads up from an old retired auto mechanic. In the mid to late 90's, GM replaced the 2.8l v6, which you have in the Comanche, with a 3.4l v6. It's an exact fit replacement for what you have in your truck. If you can find a Firebird or Camaro that has one of these engines in it and are able to get the whole car, you will have what you need to install a fuel injected motor that will be more reliable and more economical and more powerful than what is in the truck now, Plus it is a direct bolt in. I used to replace the worn out 2.8L v6 in S-10 trucks with this motor and it would give the 4.3L v6 a real run for it's money. Love your videos about the Comanche. Always wanted one but never had the opportunity to get one. Keep up the good work and God bless.

The ignition module for those 6cyl fi engines are 850 dollars, 1100 at jeep dealers and they will only warrenty it if you pay them to insrall it. I solved the problem by trading in my 91 larado for a 95 chevy pu, never a problem with it

@@bretbecky711 i loved that larado and so did my wife. It was her daily driver. But on the way back to north Alabama from Branson, Mo, it would just die going down hiway. After cooling back off it would crank and run for a while. It got worse and worse until it stranded her on her way to work. Our mechanic of 25 years tried every sensor until that was the only thing left. Had no problem trading it in to a dealer because they were so popular then in '97. Havnt priced a module since then. Maybe check around and see if you can pick up a spare.

I'm confused about your references to 'bugging out'. Do you think you might have to flee your home for some reason?
@bretbecky711

I sure hope not! But, there's some scary things going on in the world today. A lot of people are preparing to Bug Out for their own reasons. Some fear martial law, famine, drought, war, electromagnetic pulses, etc....We are prepping for the Great Tribulation. It sounds crazy, I know. We don't devote a whole lot of time to it. We've managed to put away quite a bit of freeze dried food and other supplies, but we only get to work on it a little bit. I'm just one of those guys that thinks it's better to be safe than sorry. It gives me and the wifey something to do together too, lol. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment!

Hi Linda!! I really appreciate you taking time to watch my videos. I think it has been 10 months since I've made a cooking video because Bret has kept me so busy helping with his projects. We've been building a barn, a houseboat, a camper and restoring a truck and a four wheeler. I finally got time to shoot a cooking video (Corn fritters) and Bret is in the middle of editing it now. I can't believe you left Tennessee for Mississippi! lol.

If I had to guess, it was 5 feet wide x 22 yards. Sorry, I don't remember exactly :( I had to sew the 5 feet wide sections together to make it wide enough so it has seems down the sides .

if you run a second battery on the Comanche put in a 5000w power inverter and put a household air conditioner in the back window of the truck and run it off of the inverter
@bretbecky711
@bretbecky711 7 жыл бұрын
We have been looking at inverters. The cheapest 5,000 watt inverter is at Harbor Freight and it's $389.99. I'd also have to buy more solar panels and batteries. It's more than I can spend right now, so I'll have to endure the heat, ugh.

good stuff. glad to see you back on YT. I have a couple of hacks that may be useful. to make a low cost army green mix rustoleum dark hunter green with rustoleum rusty red metal primer. Just add the primer until you have the color you want then you can thin it down to spray or dare I say cut in and roll it on with foam brushes and rollers. The wood on your projects is beautiful the downside is that it does not help to camouflage. Consider trying new or used (or a mix of) motor oil cut with diesel fuel on some scrap wood to see if it would work for your application. It will give an odor so it's best to leave in the sun for a week or so. The benefits are a darker wood hue and because it soaks into the wood. Unlike commercial sealant that just coats the surface and has a glossy finish.
@bretbecky711
@bretbecky711 7 жыл бұрын
We'll sure give it a try, because neither of us are happy with Thompson's Water Seal. It doesn't penetrate the wood very well, and in a few days you can't tell you've done anything to the wood because Thompson's evaporates.

+Bret Becky plenty of tutorials on KZbin about it. I've tried it on some projects and for the price it works fine.

@bretbecky711

We did last year, but right now we're rebuilding it with bigger pontoons and a 4 foot longer deck. It's a big project so I doubt that we'll get it done in time to take it out this year :(

I can't remember what size the bolts are because it's been years since we took ours off, but I remember there were 6 of them and they were a nightmare to get off because of rust. I think it might be helpful if you spray all of the bolts with penetrating oil and let them soak for a few days before you try to get them off. Maybe even spray them every day. Good luck and thanks for watching our videos!

Thanks Gary! Well....we're going to scuttle the boat (In a manner of speaking) The pontoon logs on the boat were never large enough. We added barrels to try to fix the problem and it didn't. So, we bought a larger base for the boat. It has larger pontoons, its overall length is 4 feet longer and it has an aluminum floor. We're still going to make it a plastic boat, but not with Coroplast. We're going to use vinyl siding with a tin roof. I never did like the analog console, so I'm building an updated "glass cockpit" that will consume less power and work better. Hopefully we'll have it completed this year. Thanks for watching!!
