I love the way the puppet never stops being “in-character”. If something needs explanation, the character demonstrates in the way they would. Even as he stands up to turn off the lights the puppet skips off camera. You can tell there’s a very genuine and real love for the magic of storytelling and character movement, it’s honestly making me envious of how easily he can keep the character as the character

And of course combined with knowledge of puppetry and an attention to detail, which you get from watching and studying other puppeteers who are great at their craft (or he's one of those who simply has an inherent knack for it, who simply "gets it").

I love how, even though this is a demonstration, you showed so much personality. The kick at 1:04 really made the character for me. It almost didn't seem like you were controlling him, and he was in some sort of habitat, and he was just having fun for the camera, showing the world what he could do.

That sort of thing reminds me of ventriloquists and their puppets, who really make them seem like independent actors from the puppeteers with how they construct their personalities. Ironically, it leads to an issue where their brains start treating them like real people after a while of performing with them, so there are times a ventriloquist will do part of an act and then look at their puppet thinking "Come on, why aren't you saying anything?!"

Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Massingberd-Massingberd Idk, it looks like how puppets look. Stylistically, it looks like the art style that is popular in stop motion recently, but you can replicate that style in video games, CGI animation, with shadow puppets and the like... This isn't new so it just seems odd someone would refer to it as a blend or hybrid of stop motion and puppetry when it really isn't stop motion at all. Edit: Watched an older video. He's referring to why the design of these puppets were made in the first place. It was originally using stop motion armatures to make stop motion easier, but he found he couldn't keep his hands still enough to do actual stop motion. So the original concept of the puppets mechanics were for stop motion but the actual outcome isn't stop motion.
