Great video. Wish your comparison was the Roland 8x compared to the EVO instead of the 4x. Adding program's is easier and the keyboard is faster on the 8x. EVO has a different sound and a natural keyboard feel because it does control the air flow and it is made, basically, with rod and pads like an acoustic accordion. The body is wood. The advantage, as you referenced , is the looks. Thank you again for the comparison.

Thank you Tony, I do mention the FR-8x in the video. But the details comparison was with the fr-4x because that was the one I owned before I got the Bugari Evo.

Hi Anand, This touches on a topic of considerable interest to me. I started playing accordion about 10 years ago. My first accordion was a Roland FR1X, followed by the FR3X, then FR4X and lastly the Roland FR8X. I started to play the acoustic accordion when I had the 3X and have had both acoustic and digital accordions since. Right now, I have a 4X and and Americana 34/96.acoustic. These have been my favorites for a while because of their weight which is 19 pounds for both of them. Not too long ago I was looking at the Bugari Evo Haria P41 but decided to not purchase it because of it's cost. It is an amazing instrument but just too heavy for me. One benefit of the Roland's is their Editing App where you can make any changes to them on your computer. I don't know if those apps are available with the Bugari digital accordions. Do you Michael Bridge? He has a pretty nice set up user programs that I used for my Roland 8X when I had one. The sounds are much more unconventional than the user program you purchased from Richard Noel. Joe/Joseph Natoli was a teacher of mine for a while. Because he lives in another part of Ohio, I would take lessons with him online. He set up an annual symposium for digital accordions that can be either viewed online or live. I am pretty sure he now has a Bugari Evo as you do. For a long time I would wonder each day which type of accordion I liked the best and after several years I have come to appreciate both acoustic and digital accordions for different reasons. However most people I talk with don't even consider a digital accordion a REAL accordion which I find amusing.

Thanks for the detailed comments. You mention a lot of valid points. 1) 'It's not a 'REAL' accordion" comment that some accordionists make. I'm not sure why people make such a big fuss. It is not a real accordion. It says so in the name. They literally call it a 'virtual' accordion. It's a digital instrument made for accordion players. So I don't know why being 'REAL' gets emphasized so much. Some people might not like it but it is up to one's taste. Not sure why there's so much hatred. We should be happy that Roland has given us so much attention to actually build this instrument so meticulously. 2) Michael Bridge sounds: I love Michael Bridge. One of my favorite performers of classical music on the accordion. I've seen the user programs listed on the Petosa website. It's great to hear that you like them (and that it's different). I see that it's also available for the Bugari Evo. I should try it out. 3) Editing sounds with your computer. That is one of the advantages that the Rolands has over the Evo. I'm not a power user and I prefer picking it up and playing. That's why I went for the Evo. 4) I briefly interacted with Joe Natoli over email when I submitted videos for the ATG recital. I think I've seen him play an Evo in some of the videos. Did your lessons focus on general accordion technique only or were there any instructions specific to digital accordion?

Quick question. You mentioned that you found the Bugari Evo heavy. It's that I'm comparison with the fr-8x?

@@BreezyBellows The 8X is 27 pounds so it is a little heavier than the Bugari Evo. Michael Bridge does have some KZbin videos describing the sounds on his user programs. When I took lessons from Joe we covered both regular accordion techniques and things specific to the Rolands. I believe he has Doctorate in Accordion Performing Arts from the University of Toronto, which I think Michael just completed. Do you know Ronen Segall from BC Canada?

@@BreezyBellows I have a 9 year old 8x Dallape and have played an EVO a lot although don't own one. They are pretty close in weight....maybe one pound difference but the 8x weight is a bit spread away from your body so I find it (AND the EVO) to not be a good choice if you primarily play standing. I rarely play standing since you maintain more control of the instrument while sitting. For those that stand mostly....the 4X or the older 7X would be a better choice although the 7x is now out of production.

@@RobertKarlBerta Thanks for your feedback. After lots of effort on digital accordions, I have completely switched to acoustic and am happy I did. However the Dallape Roland you now have was one of my favorite digital accordions. Glad you like it!

Thank you for review, it is very interesting. My Roland FR-8x has some problem with low 'A' button and I'm looking for more buying options. Bugari Evo Haria P41 looks similar to Roland FR-8x. Probably build at same factory. At list control window (12:18) is the exact copy of FR-8. I will wait next Roland flagship accordion release.

@@BreezyBellows We have limited Roland dialer in US. I was trying to clean up key contacts, but key section is not easy to open (looks like sealed in plastic container. I did my research for Bugari accordion and it looks like bugari evo accordion haria will be my next instrument when I can't operate my Roland FR-8x

How does shaking the keys produce vibrato? Is this unique to Bugari or can Roland do it too?
