The amp inputs are already jumpered internally. On input also has the randy rhoads cascade gain mod. Behringer owns Bugera. Behringer make all their own parts in a massive set of complexes in China which is why they are inexpensive. They make chips for use in BBG circuits that were previously not being manufactured anymore. The boutique pedal builders by chips from Behringer. Read the manual before the demo.BTW the only part that failed in the beginning was a plastic molex connector in the power tube circuit. They subsequently went to a more robust connector.

Great plaing, Elmo! This amp is 100watts. It is the same circuit as a Marshall 1959. 4x el34 at 25w per tube in push pull Class AB. And you should not need to jumper the channels. If you are plugged in the upper left input, then it automatically jumpers the channels in parallel. This amp wont work properly if you put a jumper cable because: If you plug into the lower left input, then it will connect the channels in series aka "cascaded channels" or "Randy Rhoads mod". Basically you get an extra preamp stage. Also, you dont need a volume in the loop. This amp already has a PPIMV control on the back that can take it down almost to bedroom level. If it is too loud and you need it to break up earlier at lower volumes, then you can pull tubes: Remove either the outer OR inner pair of output tubes. (remove tubes 1&4 OR 2&3) And then set the impedance selector to half the speaker value (example: set amp to 8 ohms if you have a 16 ohm cab). I recommend putting some tape over the old values of the switch and writing "32-16-8 ohm" on it so that no accidents happen. The amp will be 50w now. And the amp biases automatically, by a built in chip. It also works well with cheap attenuators like the Jettenuator or Bugera PS1, but those attenuators are rated incorrectly. In reality they can only take about 50w. But they work great with this amp if you pull tubes.

Are you sure 100 watts mine is 150 watts
@infectionsman
@infectionsman 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the company just wrote "150 watts" on it to make sure people use the correct speakers. This amp is 4 el-34 tubes, so it is 4x25w=100w. But its a good idea to use a higher rated cabinet, since a 100w amp can put out upwards of 200w momentarily.

Bugera makes pretty killer amps these days. Don’t let some asshole that overpaid on his amp tell you different. They may never be considered classic amps but if you’re a bedroom or weekend warrior guitarist, this will more than serve your needs. And this is coming from a guy that plays and ac30HW.

Excellent demo and playing. I've had one of these for over 2 years. Gigged regularly and countless practice sessions during that time. It's fiercely loud and never let me down yet. Pros: Great tone, self biasing - a huge bonus if you swap / replace the tubes, plenty of power and headroom, and a cheap price / good support too. Slight cons: It's heavy and the PPI (acts as a master volume) is on the back -- no idea why they did that. Well worth the money and perfect for what I need (4 piece pub rock band). Thanks for sharing this. Cheers. Mike.

You don't jumper the channels on this amp. Top left input is channel 1 and 2 jumpered. Top right is just channel 2. Bottom left is the Randy Rhoads cascaded gain mod, and bottom right is channel 2 low input I think. And as you said, a bypassable PPIMV on the back.

just a side note... the Bugera 1960 Infinium has the cascaded gain mod, the PPIMV mod already installed... no need to jump any channels, as just plug in to the top left is parallel, and bottom left is cascaded mod. Lower right is -6db cascaded, and top right is just channel 2..... that's why it didn't work "as you thought"

Only the first generation had problems with the Molex connector to the output section. No problems with any of the second generation and up. China makes all of our phones and if you pay them enough per unit they will build you a quality product. The inputs on the amp are different from a Marshall and better thought out. Channel 1,2,jumpered ,Randy Rhodes mod. RR mod puts the preamp tubes in series to produce a lot of gain. For touring I would have someone to check all the solder joints ( basically re flow every joint).

@infectionsman
@infectionsman 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, also the molex from the power TFX to the board used to fail on the early version. About the solder joints, it looks like the typical lead-free "environment" garbage solder. That stuff cracks easily over time, its not soft enough. I would suck out the most important solder joints and replace them with proper 60/40 solder. And yeah, cutting away the power-tfx molex and solder its wires directly to board + add insulation, seems to be a popular mod for roadworthyness.

I did some research but you probably already figured it out by now but it's already internally jumped on the top channel one to channel two, channel two on top is only bass. Channel one on the bottom Cascade is actually the Randy Rhodes mod (cascaded gain stages) and channel two bottom is low input if you have active pickups I think. The peavey Windsor head with 12ay7s in the first two preamp tubes is a Jcm 800 . The stock Windsor gain control is all or none but with the lower gain preamp tubes you will have some headroom. Remember the brown sound comes from power tube compression. If you use lower gain preamp tubes you force the output tubes to compress and work harder. Sooooo if you use 12au7 in the preamp tubes with the Windsor you will get more power tube distortion

Leon Thompson Which one does JCM 800 2203 better - the Peavey Windsor or the Bugera 1960 in the cascading Gain channel? I feel like the 1960 does it better. The Windsor felt a bit too thick like a DSL

@@alfaalex101 since the 1960 has multiple inputs I would use an AB box and plug one output into the cascading channel and the other output to the clean channel of your choice. I hope this helps

People who disagree with the fact you use a volume control into the Effects Loop are those who bought a $500 Load Box. In some manner, they have to justify they spent a lot of money for a device that completely changes the overall sound of their amp whatever the brand. I did so many years ago, but after a month or two, I sold it! To me the Malmsteen's overdrive sounds the best without the jumper and the guitar connected into the upper left input.

one bit of critic,for a plexi review you should play some 60s style power chords like whole lotta love or fire by hendrix alright now by free then the viewer can really tell if this amp can do what its trying to do.nice lead breaks but its the crunch we want to hear.i wont do reviews as i guard my tones ha ha.ill do that once im in the market again ha ha ha

Really enjoyed your playing, man I wasn't sure at first but you can bend with a lot of feel mixed in with your speed it sounded great & was different to your usual style great stuff Elmo 😀As for the amp it sounded OK a lot of the sound is in your fingers so that was a great advertisement for them you made it sound like a beast. But it's not a Marshall I have a JMC 800 100watt, and I have 3 71 Big head strats plus other twiddly diddly expensive ibanez & Jacksons which I rarely use unless I need a Floyd for recording. The Marshall it's extremely loud as you know but it sounds like Armageddon especially when I use my many effects , I use a boss overdrive & a Vox Wah haha. A lot of Amps & effects today are still trying to sound like a Marshall but they truly don't . I don't get it, buy a Marshall or a Mesa boogie there brilliant & really NOT cheap ha. But seriously your marshalls slay that amp you tested regardless of price . Take care Elmo, P.S. I can pronounce your last name ❤️

Just thinking here, but it would seem you using the volume thingy in the loop or however you do it would be the same as turning it down at the master? Just wondering. I mean not really reducing the load to the speakers. Whatever works though, but using the master would be easier. 😂 If it has one. .Your plexi I mean. I've played one, but it's been years. Loved that start of the feedback you started to get after your vid where you were playing. Killer Harmonics. Thanks again sir.

Good question -- and one I've had experience with. Using a volume box in the loop, with the amp's master volume control bypassed, does not sound the same as just using the master volume control. I actually use a a combination of both: I engage the master volume control but set it to max (this is actually less volume than if the master is bypassed) and also use a volume box (or a rack effect with input and output controls) in the loop. Either way, for the price this amp is a great thing to have!

It doesn't channel jump like a marshall because the Infinium models have an input stock that is jumpered. I think they called it the randy rhodes mod or something. Ive owned 2 of these beasts. Only got rid of them because its just to much amp for anything practical.
@svenHarmynt
@svenHarmynt 5 жыл бұрын
The infinium models have some kind of auto bias, that constantly check and adjust the bias of the power tubes, which in the long run gives the tubes a bit longer life. Which also mean you could swap power tubes without have to adjust the bias yourself.
