An interesting idea for the sequel IMO, would be that Bugsnax, while parasitic and dangerous if taken in high doses, are not necessarily evil or aggressive by nature and during the final missions of the game are actually reacting to a frequency only they can hear, sort of like the underwater base area in Star Wars KOTOR where you have to fight the crazed Selkath? That would explain why Sprout didn't attack the player or any of their friends, the ball he's kept in blocked the frequency out. That might fly in the face of the addiction narrative to some degree I guess, but it could explain how Eggabell and Lizbert managed to survive on the island after everybody else left. Eventually the frequencies stopped and the bugsnax became calm again, so they stuck to eating just sauces and eventually the effects of the bugsnax wore off. Maybe Snaktooth island was just a test?

Or maybe in another idea for a sequel, Gramble has a dream where he is in Snaktooth Island but nothings changed and the Bugsnax havent turned evil. Then Gramble wakes up and finds out it was a dream plus, He stops himself from being addicted to Bugsnax again but eventually does.

They could have realized the addiction narrative was hammered in enough in this game and more or less ditched it for the sequel, where Liz and Egg, through the strabby, call the gang back to the island and figure out what was behind their frenzies. Maybe the Fizzlebean siblings carry the research while you, Liz, Egg, and Triffany are sent out for various quests leading back into the now more in-depth (literally) undersnax.

I had one question that I kept thinking. How did this all started? Are these bugsnax like some insidious alien parasites? Kind of like Venom? They tried to take over your body to be turned into a bugsnax. And the ending kind of made me think they are hinted for Bugsnax 2. Where your news reporter boss is in this secret society to find these bugsnax and use them as a weapon later on for the next chapter of this game. Which that’s why your boss fired you because you know about these Bugsnax that existed in that island so you don’t have to spread the news about it. And lied about your death to everyone.

Wait, so do the sidequests contribute in any way to the cutscene on the beach with Filbo? Or are they just for improving dialogue between the characters fighting off Bugsnax? Or maybe when you don't finish their quest lines they eat the Bugsnax rather than knock them away when they get close? In this video I noticed they knock them away, but I watched a video where the player did nothing and the characters let the Bugsnax leap into their mouths.
