Citizens are as much responsible to the health of their country as is the government. If citizens are reckless with spending the resources of the country, no amount of government planning and executing of policies will keep the country healthy. You would be surprised at the amount of foreign exchange that left Nigeria for this wedding by just one family -- multiply that by the number of such weddings a year and you will no longer be shocked as to why Nigeria's economy ails. If your parents are struggling to feed every member of the family, would you grab whatever money that would have fed everyone for a week, if foods were cooked at home, to go eat at a 5-star restaurant in one instance, just to show off? If you wouldn't do so because you are a responsible member of a family, the same principle should apply to relating to the larger economy of the country. Nigeria's economy does not support the siphoning abroad of limited foreign exchange for merrymaking -- oyibo and Arabs look at Nigerians as idiots whenever they see us indulging in this type of wedding in their countries while majority of our people are going to be on empty stomach and dying of sicknesses that can be cured or prevented by less than $1.00 -- about the cost of one disposable plastic spoon used at such weddings. My friend, the economy cannot improve without the citizens playing positive roles. If Nigerians are purchasing and drinking orange juices made in Chinese labs and filled with unhealthy preservatives and sugars, while ripe oranges are falling off the trees and rotting away in Nigeria, there is no way that the Nigerian economy will improve. Weddings used to be a gathering of families, friends, and even villagers. How many family, friends, and village relatives of this family made it to London for this wedding? This type of showing off retards both our culture and economy; it is as stupid as our leaders going abroad for medical treatment. In each case, oyibo views us as stupid people -- I didn't know all of this when I lived in Nigeria. When president Trump called African countries "shithole", it was because Africans' behavior of copying oybo has made some uninformed oyibo (like Trump) to seeing Africans as barely intelligent. Objectively, any Nigerian who tasks the limited resources of Nigeria to go do weddings or throw parties in oyibo and Arab lands of London and Dubai is not a smart or patriotic person. Think about that, my friend.

Adeola thank you for keeping it real. please let me make some corrections about Cameroun. We are not in Southern Cameroon,but we are former Southern Cameroons.Note the "s". actually at the moment we are part of West Cameroon. the British administered, the Cameroons,(Former British Cameroons), the Northern CameroonS now part of Nigeria. the then Southern Cameroons part of West Cameroon.both administered as British trust territories. The United Nations voted for our independance in April 1961, but unfortunately,our ancestors were subjected to a vote. Do you choose to gain independence by Joining Nigeria or Cameroun. Our parents choosed Cameroon instead of Nigeria as did Northern Cameroons, because of the poor treatment from Nigeria. The Union had no treaty of Union,the British were not part of it.It was a French conspiracy. NB:This battle has been on going since 1962. The younger generation had never taken it serious until now. In 1962 we were a two state federation,but in 1972 in during the Foumban conference,with only France as the external body our ancestors were deceived to vote for a United Cameroon,which was later changed to a single country by the then President Ahmadou Ahidjo and Subsiquently SheKua Paul Biya. In Foumban our ancestors were to choose between "Oui"& "Yes" to for a united Cameroon. of course "Oui" is "Yes" in French. The bone of contention is for Biya and his cabal to produce the treaty of Union from the UN, without which we are a free nation by UNITED Nations resolution of April 1961.
