In this 43rd video from Classic Car ChitChat, you will get to see a beautiful 1987 Buick Grand National Turbo powered V6. This car for so many high school students growing up in the 80’s and 90’s was the Dream Car everyone wanted. If you love true American muscle cars then the Buick Grand National GNX is a true collector car of choice. Whether you are interested in the Buick Grand National Burnout, Drag Racing or the sound of the engine and exhaust. This car checks off all the boxes with its V6 power and very fast 0-60 this car still turns heads today as it did when I was in high school!
In case you are keeping Track this is Episode 43 of Classic Car ChitChat Videos!
I hope my Classic Car ChitChat video’s make you smile. I do them in my spare time because I truly love cars and my intentions are simply to honour the beautiful cars I get to see and to really understand the passion and love of the vehicle by the driver (or caretaker as Jay Leno would say) of the car. I also understand too that my videos perhaps lack the polish calibre of great KZbinrs like: Doug DeMuro, Scotty Kilmer, and of course my favourite Supercar Blondie. I also know that I can’t even come close the quality & finish you get from the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and the boys at Top Gear. I think they use a little fancier equipment than my little iPhone… LOL
Mission Statement:
My Objective through creating these videos is to shine the spotlight on people who love their vehicles whether it be a car, motorcycle, or even a bicycle…. Bottom line is if it has wheels and you love it then let’s show that passion to the world!
Equipment Used:
Camera - Just an iPhone SE (Nothing fancy - which proves anyone can use whatever you have handy to make a video… you don’t need really expensive equipment)
Gimbal - DJI OM4 - For that ultra-smooth cinematic look. (To be honest... still not quite sure how to use it but one day I will figure it out!)
Audio - Rode Wireless GO II (I gotta be honest… this is really the biggest investment that was made… I wish there was a cheaper option but after the first couple of videos I soon realized that audio quality is important and hopefully better than the onboard mic on the iPhone!
Contact Details: If you have any questions or just want to chat you can reach me through all the (non-traditional) typical ways through the following:

Email - classiccarchitchat@gmail.com
If you have read this far, then I thank you. As always, I truly appreciate your “thumbs-up”, and by leaving your comments it demonstrates to me that I managed to get you involved and hopefully made you smile. Most importantly when you subscribe to my channel then you are truly acknowledging my effort to help share with others like you my passion and love for “all things that have wheels” and honouring the people who take care of them.
Thank You
Kevin

Mclaren had nothing to do with the engine design of the GN. They were involved, though, with the GNX project along with ASC. Also, the rear emblem on the trunk of this car is mounted too high.

Correct. I'm really not trying to cause any controversy here, and with all due respects to the owner, but he gave out some misinformation that clearly needs to be corrected. For starters, Like Paulie alluded to above, Mclaren had absolutely NO input on this engine. It was a 100% Buick designed, factory-built engine. Also, the 3rd brake light was first used on 1986 automobiles, not 87. Also, Mclaren did NOT design the "Turbo 6" logo, that was actually designed by Molly Sanders for Buick. Looking under the hood the downpipe was replaced with a 3" aftermarket version. The owner says they only built GN's in 85, 86, and 87. That's incorrect, the 1st year for the GN was 1982. Then the all black, sequential port fuel injected GN's came out in 1984. The 84 and 85 GN's were non-intercooled and the turbo was located at the top of the engine. The owner states that only 5000 GN's were made in 87. Actually, a little over 20,000 were built in 87, the last year for the GN. And although his GN is a beautiful example, it clearly was repainted as all the emblems are not in the factory 'locations'. Again, I just want the public to receive the correct information. I don't believe it was the owner's intention to give out false information, I just think he's ill informed. All this information is easily available to verify. This is a very well-done video and thank you for covering such a great car.

@@ct87gn25 , I turned it off after he said that they used the PM brakes on trucks (probably confused them with hydro boost which was available on trucks) so I missed all the other stuff you mentioned. For an original owner he is sadly misinformed on quite a lot.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought that. For being an owner for 35 years, he had so much bad information it wasn’t even funny. About 1 out of every 5 “facts” he said was incorrect. SMH.... Nice car though, and a great video!

Turbo trans 89 am pace car had it too. The technology was done as a boy scout project and buick presented it to engineers. ACS only work on the GNX. The GMC typhoon and syclone used a 4.3 turbo charged engine. I have a 87 t top and GMC typhoon number 2001.

@@dianecortis2047 I would love to have a gnx but I would never want to drive it. My GN was a 74k orginal miles car. In three years I put a little less than 3k on it. I’m almost 40 and this is a car I must have someday! I had a 87 monte SS in high school and only dreamed of having the pinnacle G body car. I have my 1st dream car now which is my 70 chevelle that I’ve had now for 23 years. My wife said once I get my truck paid off, I can take the plunge and get what she calls my mid life crisis car! That’s fine with me! Better than the vette I’d say IMO! Great video and even a sweeter car!
