Great , someone who's not afraid to use his own brain ! I think you are the only one, on KZbin that has shown a complete conservatory build without getting a company in to do it.

Thank you for a great comment I did the same when building my house, i spend too much time checking other people's work to give the job to them it's easier to just do it myself and it's more pleasing

good job on the box section for your roof. nearly bit my lip to see you leaning your ladders on your glass, my wife would have had a fit.

Hi and thanks for watching but a little confused about the glass and ladder! its double glazing! I know in the passed i have tried to break these units with a hammer and failed so i never have any worries with a the ladder,

my wife would have melted my head about breaking the windows. One of the drawbacks of working while she's at home, she follows me around agonizing about everything. On my first conny the windows nearly fell out of the frames when I took the snap-on mullions off and they were on the outside. The owner looked very agitated. he was a copper, he had asked and paid for 'xtra security' so his windows couldn't be removed from the outside. On this second conny the windows were glued in with double sidded foam ( security glazing ) . A bit more work removing them. Enjoying the videos, thanks for taking the time and the bother to film it.

Good job your window glass is strong on your bungalow, thought your ladder would of cracked those glass panes, when you put them ladders up against them to stand on.
@dmgladden6 жыл бұрын
Cheryl Oldford the one good advantage of doulbe glazing is the it makes the glass almost un breakable as long as the glass is sound thats why we need special tools if we need to break one, and believe me i have put that to the test on many occasions

That came out nice! Looks like I'll be saving this video for our build. On a side note, those window can take some weight...but I cant be the only one that cringed when you leaned the ladder. hahaha.
@dmgladden4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, as for the ladder yes many have said but no trade guys as time shows these widows hold the weight no problem, I guess when you've tried to smash them a night times you understand how strong they are.

Hi Dave, a couple of questions. Above your patio/French window do you have an eaves or ring beam? Also, when you fitted the roof how did you fit the flashings?
@dmgladden4 жыл бұрын
As I said in my last reply I didn't pick the items it was as it was from the last house but as for flashing it's tight up under the main roof and with the overhang being very large

as you were doing it you ought to have put a proper lightweight roof on it - everyone having conservatorys converted now its allowed in planning. Would have gone over the 1k but at least it will be usable in winter and summer when it either too hot or too cold. I ended u insulating ours as a stop gap and its helped but all the glass acts as a radiator so still gets very warm in summer and cool in winter.
@dmgladden7 жыл бұрын
It was a consideration but i had this one and not sure just how much these frames would hold but it been frosty outside and the conservatory is warm maybe the way i did it has helped! keep watching and let me know what you think by the finish

David Gladden extra support posts are often required.not just the roof weight but when they get full of snow etc. Seen reports of some people doing it and not considering it and theyre unsafe - and charging for the privilege.
