Thank you for this update on your progress. I think you are beginning to "catch on" with your subscribers and views. Congratulations. You do good work and explanations help us to understand why you do what you do. Your video quality is pretty good, too.

Just come across this. Looking to rebuild my knackered conservatory and this look like a great guide to follow. I have subscribed 👍🏻

Your video is the only video I could find that actually shows how to connect a conservatory to the dwarf wall. Now you use a membrane rather than pressure treated ground contact lumber like some others who attach wood to brick with concrete block screws. I’m not sure which to do, but don’t think it wise to do both. I guess it depends on the wood you get. Pressure treated here in So Cal is dark stained, and doesn’t look as good as natural wood. So, I’ll likely use your mortar and membrane technique to ensure that the wood doesn’t get rot from the brick moisture. Thank you.

This was perfect for me. My mother has a somewhat similar but smaller conservatory which needs renovating. I would be interested to know about the window frames. Were they ones you made earlier?

Can I ask what holds the wood seal in place does it hold onto the cement and is that bond strong enough ?
@IsraelitesUnited2 жыл бұрын
Did you use any other fixing than cement to fix the window seal to the base wall thanks

Do you have to cement the damp proof membrane?
@darrenthebuilder2 ай бұрын
@@tigertruckerman yes

Interesting that you do the rubber membrane then another mud bed, and lay the wood in THAT. It wouldnt pass code here. And the ledger board for the rafters has to be thru bolted to the upper floor rim joist.

Im sorry to dig this video out of the past but Im about to do a similar (smaller) project and have found your videos super helpful. I had one question if you dont mind, I wasnt clear on the attachment of the sill to the wall. Is the sill just connected to the wall by the mortar you put between it and the membrane or was there anything else attaching it to the wall? Many thanks.
@JohnDuffell Жыл бұрын
gravity is what holds it in place. If you have concerns you could use bent strap similar to what's used on flat roofs and gable walls
@TRPGpilot10 ай бұрын
What is holding this down top the wall? Surel;y it cant be that little bit of mortar that was spread on top of the DPC?
