This is how to make a door/gate for your Sim-Lab P1-X, GT Omega Prime or other 8020 aluminium profile sim racing rig. To mount a PC sim racer set up and a flight simulator set up together this is almost mandatory to help get in and out of the rig with ease.
This has really improved my rig and I hope it improves some of yours too.
A big thank you to my collaborator ‪@YoastZilla‬ who came up with the initial design and for bouncing ideas with me in the TTR think tank💪🏻

Thanks for the video, this idea is awesome! Do you think it's sturdy enough to have a Shifter/Handbrake combo attached to it? Id love to have this on my gtomega prime but I'm afraid it would brake the latch or a hinge.
@TraumaTeamRacing
@TraumaTeamRacing 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback MrStyx44! Really appreciate it. If you do exactly what I've done it should be sturdy enough I think. Although I would opt to put it on the non-shifting side if possible. The door with the latch does not budge, but will take a bit of tuning once it's built up. Hope that helps 👍🏻

Cool idea and nice execution! One question though: how hard is that latch to reach once youre in the cockpit? After all you do need to reach it to open the door everytime you want to get out :)
@TraumaTeamRacing
@TraumaTeamRacing 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment and feedback Roger! You just drop your hand to the side and unlatch it. Pretty easy. The door doesn't have to be as long as mine so you could modify it if you like to make it smaller. It's definitely easier than climbing over though 😅

Just seen this, ordered my Prime last night due to be delivered this Thurs (still not decided for certain where its going yet and will have to rip out half the contents of my room arghhh). Where did you get the extra black profile pieces from as they seem to be more difficult to find (the only one I found so far seem to be in fixed increments of sizes). Similarly I plan to mostly use for flight/hotas use sos suspect once I've added a 2nd side getting in and out wil become a bit of a chore

@TraumaTeamRacing look up the Rig Metal Basic then compare how they mount the wheel base as it's on the inside of the frame unlike the P1X. I'm trying to do the same as you but I'm having a hard time envisioning how it would work.
