These are a series of videos that just give you so much information, the back story, the side story, the front story. You could have cut this down to one video and saved yourself hours of video editing, but you included all the detailed experiences and experiments. It’s hard to find this level of detailed information on niche specific projects like this. A true masterclass in detailed tutorial content

This is really cool- I love your creativity! I'm in the middle of building tree prop with foam for my son's high school band. I sprayed lines on the tree trunk somewhat vertically and also a little bit crooked to try and mimic the nature of a real tree. Once the foam cures, I'll shave some of it down so it's not all lumpy looking, and hope to make it look like bark with cool ridges and all.

Hey, that’s great! foam is a lot of fun to work with, you just have to be a little bit forgiving and not try to force it too much. That’s kind of the fun of it all!

Ain't that the truth-- it kinda took a life of its own! Once I shaved/smoothed down some of the bark and painted it to my liking, I thought it was missing something. So I went back and foam sprayed whimsical "roots" twining their way up the trunk, painted it with an array of nature colors and highlighted with a tad of shimmer so that the roots will stand out on the band competition floor. I want to thank you so much for posting your video. I can't tell you how much you've help me build this and everything ended up working out better than expected. I am so grateful for this. Our band director wanted (at least) an 8' tree, but after building the limbs and adding leaves, it ended up being close to 10' in height. For me, this was more than building a tree prop for my son's band (that I had no idea if I could do on my own), though I was determined to conquer this and not let them down. But it was so much more than that. Being a stay at home mom for years and in the middle of ending a bad marriage, I've been having a difficult time getting back up on my feet and feeling any sense of self confidence. I knew I needed to do this and do the very best I knew how. And I did. Who knew that a tree prop could make a significant difference in another person's life.

@@sassyboy8979 Sounds like you made a really cool tree! I am so happy that I was able to be of help to your sons band. But even more, I’m really happy that I was able to be a part of your finding your own strength to do things that you can be really proud of. Funny enough, in another part of my life, I also do a lot of work helping out with band stages. I am manager of a band called BACK:N:BLACK, Which is all girls playing AC/DC songs. So far, we have not brought trees on the stage- maybe we should! But what we have done is helped each other find way to be the best we can be, and bring joy to as many as we can along the way. They’re here: www.backnblackgirls.com. Again, thanks a lot for your very kind comment.

@@SwissFrogGuy I watched them on KZbin they are amazing! Brings me back to my younger years of listening to incredible female rock artists that have such beautiful, strong vocals and presence -- Joan Jett, Debbie Harry, Chrissie Hynde, Pat Benetar etc 🎸 All the best to every one of you!

I saw a great video, way back of someone who build a canoe entirely out of spray foam. Maybe that could be a starting point. Have you considered an airplane or a guitar?

Hey! I love this video so much. I have been looking for inspiration to make fake vines for a wizard staff i've been working on. Do you think spray foam would be a good choice for vines? they won't be freestanding, more of a topper for the staff. I was considering using paper but LOVE the way your tree turned out with the foam!
@SwissFrogGuy

Thanks a lot for your cool,! Spray foam would work great for vines, as long as it doesn’t have to support any weight. It won’t stand on its own. but when you spray it, it skins over with a smooth texture that can look really cool. Just try some experience with it and see if you like it!
