Really what you're doing is visual storytelling. Every choice you make in the details helps tell part of the story. If you had made a straight tree with green foliage and there were fully clothed people, not decaying, it tells a completely different story. Maybe something happened recently, like the people were hanged for being witches. You did skeletons on a bare tree. Their skin decayed a while ago, their clothes are in shreds and one skeleton has been there so long it fell apart as the vultures sit by with all the meat gone. You don't need words, the image tells the story. Cool!

Great job on the tree. Quick tip for doing rope with hanging objects attached to them like bodies, bells, etc. Lightly weight the object that is hanging in order to pull the string taut, then apply CA glue to the string /rope, and accelerate it . The "rope" will dry hard and straight and looks more realistic. A hanging rope with little bends or curves in it gives an odd look( see body on left at 00:16 and body on right at 26:26). This also works with hanging chains and such. If you want it to be able to swing just break it at the pivot points. Cheers

I don't use twine for such things, get your thinnest copper wire (salvaged from a motor for a lifetime supply) and twist two bits into a braid. It's both smaller and can be shaped to realistic shapes. Good for all your rope needs.

Honestly, this tree looks eerie enough by itself, even more so without the handing corpses than with them. Maybe it's the paintjob, but it really gives me the impression of a creature from Silent Hill. As in; the Otherworld misinterpreting a person's subconcious memory of a tree and manifesting it as a twisted, branching mass of _flesh._ I really need to get me some of that clay...

If you don't want to mess with clay, wet crepe paper (like party streamers) and wrap it around the trunk and branches after the foil. Then spray it with a 50/50 mix of water & PVA glue. The crepe paper gives a fantastic bark-like texture without the need for sculpting. If you need it more rigid after it dries, give it a coat of Modpode.
@TabletopWitchCRAFT
@TabletopWitchCRAFT Жыл бұрын
I'll check that out!
@andyrobinson6611
@andyrobinson6611 Жыл бұрын
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT the wet paper is not always easy to deal with, but it just takes a bit of playing to get used to how much to wet it first. I give it a light spray- just enough to get it to stick to itself as you wrap. Then spray a little more so you can work out any air bubbles. Once you hit it with the pva/water mix and let it dry, the result is solid.

I've got a video suggestion. I played D&D many years ago when we were using hand drawn maps and the books, so playing with these cool miniatures is something new. How about a video of some folks actually playing D&D using these? Show us how they are used in actual gameplay? Considering that each game is a series of adventures you might even be able to make another series of videos of D&D adventures kind of like the what the Deerstalker Pictures folks are doing. All of your projects are really great, and using your flickering torch and bonfire ideas I'm making a fire for a miniature library my mom has.. and yes, I used the affiliate links to order the LEDs and tubing.

Love the video as always. The only thing that rubs me wrong is the body positioning of the minis, one of my favorite tricks for that is hitting my mini's with a hair-dryer for a few seconds to make them more pliant, then using good rubber bands to reposition the limbs or body to suit my need. Also, the soundfx on your intros tend to be a little loud, washing out your voice for the description. Again, love the content, can't wait to get my own videos up and hopefully get your opinions too.

You should think about getting a past machine/roller if you use modeling clay alot. It makes rolling out sheets of clay a lot easier and faster.

@@TabletopWitchCRAFT I use to do it by hand with an acrylic rod as well then remembered I had an old pasta roller that I never used so I tried it out and man did it make things so much faster as well as getting the same thickness all the way through. I even made texture sleeves for it so I could roll stone, brick and the like in not only clay but foam as the one I had you could set the thickness of the "pasta", in my case clay and foam. And was able to crank out walls cobblestone streets and the like extremely fast.

@@seangere9698 Great idea, how can you made your texture rollers?
@seangere9698
@seangere9698 4 жыл бұрын
@@zombielandiii2711 I used PVC pipe and a dremel to carve a negative texture pattern into it. Then I would slip the PVC "sleeve" over the roller. Then just adjust the thickness i needed and rolled out the clay or foam. A note on the sleeves. If you just slide them over the roller bar that's already on the pasta roller they either need to be extremely snug almost to the point that they don't want to go on so they don't slip on the roller or you have to use rubber of some kind, like O rings, to keep the sleeves from slipping on the roller and not rotating as you turn the crank.
