In old lore, Squigs actually were tyranids made from orkoid genetics, and the orks were so offended by this that they tried to rescue these "orks" from the Huve Ships they were on, and only discovered ickity little squigs, but both squig and ork immediately understood their kinship, and so the orks saved all of the squigs they could find, though some didn't escape, and those became the first ripper swarms, though they weren't called that at first. In modern lore a squig is actually just an orkoid that isn't humanoid, but the tyranid squigs were still a thing from hive fleet Colossus, the same nids who were really weird and different from the ones who came later (Very weird, they had individual minds, wore living fuzzy sashes as style, didn't consume all life on the planets they came to, and had mind controlled zoats serving as their equivalent to warriors.) though Colossus only originated some species of squigs.

I feel like this could either be a pet for an Ork warboss, or a curiousity for a rogue trader, we know Ambots exist, essentially a creature thats lobotomized to become a worker or protector, so a tyranid away from the hive mind could be turned into a servitor

I can only suggest a high-gloss wetness-effect be applied to appear drippy & moist coming down from under any looted-plates, like unseen-ulcers or biological-serum is sweating where the plates & skin interact: moisture running down from the irritant armor making a sheen.
