I think the black spot on the slab is beautiful. Just as the hole in the leg adds character, the black stain shows it survived over 100 years after human intervention. What a wonderful way to display a historic piece of nature!

I adore old wood as it is connection to the past especially reclaimed wood that was use 100 years ago to build something. That is the biggest circular saw I’ve seen! That is a beautiful slab of wood

Yet another beautiful project. Thank you for sharing your work and passion on KZbin. I get ideas, information and inspiration from you. I love the discolorations from the lye and the old metal in the wood. It gives a very interesting character. We have some dead trees which were cut down on our property. I think I will do something similar with some of that wood. Much better than burning it in the fire! Like you, I think the wood will be happier. You also inspire me to get my electric portable planer out and use it more. I rarely think of what it can do, but now I have ideas.

wood is wonderful!!!! I logged for a few years and worked at two different saw mills i had a 46 mag saw!!! they are good ... But the most lovely wood is plum walnut is good persimmon is nice but by far plum is the prettiest!!! see if you can find some it would have to be old when they die but you will not be disappointed!!!! your table is good and your wife may have liked it!!!

That is an absolutely beautiful table top. To imagine that was going to be wood chips just shows that we should be appreciating what nature gives us a little more. That's part of the reason I drive around town looking for people cutting down trees on their property, I offer to take the large pieces of trunk away for them so all they have is to take the small limbs and leaves to the dump (then the tree trunks sit in my backyard drying and getting in the wife's way when she's in the yard working, the wood makes the yelling worth it).

Beautiful. I would turn the legs around so that the "V" shape with the beautiful grain shows. It will match the top better, and look less bulky. Just my thoughts.

Obviously Shoyan-san is extremely knowledgable/clever/amazing quality work but i am just amazed at the way he uses power tools - i've been in construction for decades so seen a lot of tradesmen doing that + millions on yt vids obv haha but i've never seen some one so effective and so much finnesse with very big really and tricky surfaces moving alot of material - he handles all of that work as if the powertool and the type of timber was a 1/3 the size! Feels like watching a great boxer or something

The top is a lovely peace of wood great grain and colours. The staining could be from an old nail as trees was used as post in the old days the staining looks grate nice green colour.take care.😀👍👍
